Racists are people who are obsessed with race.
Sound like anybody you know, Merriam?
Morality = racism
Hard work = racism
Whiteness = racism
Keep em’ safe.
The mob wants to burn those.
“Racism” — see “White Supremacy”
Leftist Word salad.
It shall probably be a little more subtle than that, but there were looking to included the concepts “a doctrine or political program based on the assumption of racism and designed to execute its principles” and “a political or social system founded on racism”, and also, “bring the idea of an asymmetrical power structure into the language of the definition”.
Oh, the propagandists and wordsmiths can be very clever.
Dictionaries stopped being reliable in the early sixties, when Webster’s 2nd Unabridged was chucked and replaced with Webster’s 3rd Unabridged. They stopped being descriptive of the language at that point.
Same here. My 'new' (40 years young) Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary is one of my stand-bys, known in its day for its prescriptionism...
...along with a forty-year-old Random House Unabridged (not so prescriptive, but thorough), also a sturdy and reliable American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language....
...plus the great and grave Webster's 2nd New International, and finally the fascinating if relatively unused OED.
My toys have held up somewhat better than the world around them.

As Orwell said, "Language makes humans easy to control: control their language and you control the people."
From the article:
“Peter Sokolowski, an editor at large at Merriam-Webster, told CNN that their entry also defines racism as “a doctrine or political program based on the assumption of racism and designed to execute its principles” and “a political or social system founded on racism,” which would cover systematic racism and oppression.”
So the new definition defines racism using the word racism in the definition.
Now how can racism be a “political program”? I’m guessing they are talking about the word “racist” not “racism”.
Can Black people be racists by this definition?
Here’s my question: it seems like the left’s PC cops are now *requiring* us to include a race qualifier in every conversation.
Why is that?
Why *must* we say “this black guy I know”?
Why not just “this guy I know”?
Many of my old books are from 1940s and before...really ancient.
So if a hurricane hits, what will you save, your books or your firearms? Tough decision.
RACISM: for whites only
In the inner city neighborhoods from which I fled years ago, my black neighbors constantly railed against the “gooks” the “jews & a-rabs” and the “beaners” who were taking over their neighborhoods.
They mostly seemed to hate everyone & believed everyone else was jumping ahead in the line for
benefits.
I never really heard derogatory terms about white people— probably because they knew I could hear them, but also I guess they assumed I was ok with the other slurs they *did* use in front of me.
The whole racial dynamic in the ‘hood was NOTHING like the guilty white liberals in Hollywood believe.
