Roger Goodell still owes Colin Kaepernick an apology
NJ.com ^ | 6/7/2020 | Jerry Izenberg

“We, the NFL, condemn racism and the systematic oppression of Black People. We, the NFL, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest. We, the NFL, believe Black Lives Matter.” — Roger Goodell

Thus did the commissioner of the National Football League join the 21st Century. What delayed his arrival was not prejudice or even conviction. It was simply business as usual, influenced the by the collected, banal, midnight tweets of Donald J Trump. When the President speaks, until now, the league always kowtowed.

But this past week, in a video that went viral, the players spoke in unison and volume. Without them, there is no product. They were eloquent, unified — and Goodell finally got their message. His decision was strictly business.

In his “apology,” Goodell never mentioned Colin Kaepernick. Ignoring Kaepernick’s role is like saying Hurricane Katrina was started by a leaky shower in New Iberia, La. Goodell said the league was wrong for not listening to the players. But he avoided apologizing to the man to whom they did listen; the man blackballed by the owners, who, in desperate need of backup quarterbacks, still ostracized him; the man who paid the price for taking on the Establishment.

Jerry Izenberg is supposed to be some national treasure and sage because he’s been around for 60 years. In reality, he’s a leftist hack who’s been a leftist hack for 60 years.

“White silence is incredibly powerful,” said Savala Trepczynski, executive director of the Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice at UC Berkeley. “It’s not neutral. It acts like a weapon.

All white people in the media and sports etc will be bludgeoned with this now.

Switch to the NHL and forget the NFL and its political circus.

Nothing says ‘I’m sorry’ like a boatload of of money... And they paid off Kaperdink to make him go away.

Kaepernick owes the American people an apology. If Goodell allows players to kneel during the National Anthem, the NFL should fold up its tent and disband.

That is what Henry VIII told Thomas More.

Colin Kaepernick only took a knee during the Obama administration. Since Trump became President, he hasn’t taken a knee once.

Goodell needs to be on his knees, too.

Here is the kicker (pun), this doofus self loathing Jew actually thinks the NFL lost revenue because Goodell did NOT actively, publicly support Kaepernick and the other kneelers.

When the season starts, and ALL of the players start taking a knee during the National Anthem, the NFL THINKS this will bring in millions more fans.

The same way that Nike was willing to abandon patriotic Americans for the black hoodlums, in order to make MORE money.

This policy change assures the end of the NFL, and any other professional sport that showcases the disrespect of the American flag.

Watch the NFL (and ESPN) lose even more revenue in the coming years.

I think Roger Goodell should not only apologize to Kaepernick — he should resign and have the NFL owners make Kaepernick the NFL commissioner.

If you’re going to turn the whole thing into a clown show that has nothing to do with football, then you might as well do it for real.
