In 1932, Soviet authorities began promoting the story of a 13-year-old peasant boy called Pavlik Morozov. Morozov, they claimed, had taken the supremely virtuous step of denouncing his own father to the secret police for committing counter-revolutionary acts.What happened was that Pavlik ratted out his Kulak dad, who got sent to prison. Pavlik's grandpa and uncles, infuriated at what he did, killed him. The Commies in the area got the Grandfather and uncles and executed them. In the years since the fall of the Soviet Union, there's been a sharp controversy over whether to glorify Pavlik. Some Russians say he was a rat fink, while others still cling to the notion that he was a national hero.
I read a story, around the 1980s. It might have been earlier or it could have been later. It was before 2000 and after 1970. It was from a woman writing about her life as a young girl growing up in the Stalin era. She was at school and in class they had a discussion about the virtues of Comrade Stalin. Each student in turn stood and made a laudatory[my term] about Comrade Stalin. When her turn came, she rose and said,”Comrade Stalin is[ a derogatory name]” I cant recall the phrase she used but it was bad]. When school was out she went to her home in the village. Next morning again she went to school. when she returned at the end of the day, her mother was in the kitchen. Earlier that day, in response for what she said in class that her mother said about Comrade Stalin, the NKVD had visited her. And extracted all of her teeth with a pair of pliers. She concluded by saying that her mother never blamed her, but she never forgave herself.
This is what the young that are graduating from the colleges and universities are hoping for. For this reason they flock to Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden and other Democrats . and that they vote for them hoping that they will bring it about.
The whole story of that Russian kid was communist bullshit and propaganda. He didn’t rat out his dad, and the family didn’t kill him in retaliation. It was a mundane local crime turned into a shining example of the New Soviet Man, or child in this case.
