I worked with a very liberal Christian guy who also happened to be black. He asked me why conservatives don’t want to raise taxes to help poor people and still claim to follow Jesus. I told him that Jesus told his followers to help the poor, not for Ceasar to confiscate half of worker’s money, some of which goes to help poor that may or may not want to work.
It’s also often confiscated FROM the poor.
Trump did the Opportunity Zones not too long ago, in 2019 sometime I think. They are for those who have trouble entering the work force but would like to. That was his first move to help the truly down-and-out.
Essentially, he helped some of those that Jesus cared about the most.
Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t help them also.
