When my daughter was in grade school she and a black kid, Michael, were always at the top of their class and were good friends. When they got to junior high Michael's grades went to hell in a handbasket and so my daughter ask him about it. He told her that to make good grades was being "too white" and being black was more important to him. I'm not sure if he even finished high school. Sad.
Peer pressure makes adolescent blacks do poorly in schools on purpose. The ones that can’t make the grade taunt and bully the ones that can and do, calling them Oreoes and such..............
And unfortunately, that is an almost exclusive American black thing, that getting an education is "acting white".
I have been to other countries, and know some of the worse neighborhoods in those countries that have a sizable black population, and you know what they say if someone that lives in their neighborhood does well in school? It's "good for him", "I hope she is successful", "He's learning a trade, great", whatever. It isn't he or she is "acting white".
