Dismissal by isolation.
President Trump listened to Dr, Fauci early in the beginning of the pandemic, and enacted his judgments and recommendations. As it turned out, the recommendations went a little awry almost from the first, and as time went on, proved not to be the best alternative, as not all aspects were considered.
Not exactly “You’re fired!”, just more like marginalized.
