(@brithume The author of this nonsense is a professor at the highly regarded Northwestern University.)
In the early days of the pandemic, did you ever fantasize what wed do when people could go outside again and gather together? Did you dream of a better, post-pandemic America? One with more hugs, more mutual care and concern for our fellow humans, having all gone through (in differing and unequal ways, but still having shared) a harrowing common experience?
People are going out again, all over the United States. But its not to celebrate a vaccine or a debt jubilee. The first national connecting event coming out of lockdown is mass protest against police violence after the lynching of George Floyd, and the states attempt at suppressing it. The coronaviruswhich disproportionately is killing Black Americansdrove us inside. Policingwhich also disproportionately is killing Black Americansis drawing us back out. Almost overnight, the streets have gone from largely emptythough the rate of police killings remained mostly unchangedto filled with thousands of masked people, often being gassed or beaten. The conditions before, during and after the lockdown are part of a continuum in Americaa miserable nation maintained by policing.
For about a decade, Ive been reporting on police violence in the United Statesor rather, Ive been reporting on the violence of policing, because what Ive witnessed is that policing is always violent. The order the police protect and sustain is an order in which needed resources remain in the hands of the few. Whether or not they are actually killing or beating somebody, police are always threatening the use of lethal violence (mostly at the poor, disproportionately at Black and other nonwhite people), and that is a form of violence itself. And as Ive reported on the violence of policing, the encouraging rebellions against it, and

snip...”When I read this Thursday night, I thought to myself: Imagine what kind of city Minneapolis could be if it wasnt spending that much of its tax dollars on policing. What if Minneapolis had invested that money in homes for the unhoused? In medicine for the sick? In public health officials to help with infectious disease? In food for the hungry? What if Minneapolis put its police budget towards the very resources which would make policing as presently practiced unnecessary? What if every city did the same?”

So which reopening stage is mayhem?
So he imagined Cuba.
Why even have LE or police stations in blue states?
The only times it was proportionate was when the IDF destroyed Palestinian “Authority” police stations for aiding Intifada terrorists.
Now in the U.S. we have the Antifada terrorists. Some States would be wise to hire Israeli security experts to advise them.
This professor at Northwestern Un. (where Bernadine Dohrn, the Marxist psychopathic named cop-killer, also worked), is just as much as psychopath as Dohrn and her husband Bill Ayres, Weathermen leaders.
I wonder if a student who burned down his house because he was charging too much for his journalism classes, could use the same rational to be acquitted of his crimes.
I knew that Northwestern Un. had become a haven for Marxists but I didn’t know that they had to be psychopaths as well.
Why even have LE or police stations in blue states?

Lots of states have blue urban enclaves in a sea of red counties. It’s not a case of total blue states, just cities influencing elections to force blue governance/taxes on everyone else.
Until Jack dittles Suzy instead of Jane and Jane 2x4s Jack in the head one night.
>> mass protest against police violence after the lynching of George Floyd
He wasn’t lynched
But these rioters ARE going out to beat down “some people” who have done nothing wrong. And they don’t play by established rules. Skateboard to the head, stomping on a man’s head while he is on the ground. Assaulting women, using weapons to assault women, using weapons to assault handicapped women in wheelchairs.
>>What if Minneapolis had invested that money in homes for the unhoused?
Some Leftist a&&hole would just burn them down as they did in these riots.
A small taste of what the Tribulation will be like. Just missing the wrath of God.
“... Whether or not they are actually killing or beating somebody, police are always threatening the use of lethal violence (mostly at the poor, disproportionately at Black and other nonwhite people), and that is a form of violence itself”
Hey, I never get hassled by the cops because of my pleasant behavior towards them they just figure “He knows better” and I do.
When you are an A-hole with an attitude your gonna play the game 20 questions as they interview you further to see if you require further investigation and sometimes they lose their cool
Most of them are good guys trying to do a good job.
Let’s not hassle them because you may call 911 one day and that will be ironic
There is a nugget of truth inside all this BS, and that’s the explosion of violence that was created by the forced lockdown. Tempers are short and the people are increasingly questioning the motives of the government.
The idea that COVID is disproportionately killing African-Americans isn’t true. It is disproportionately killing the elderly and nursing home residents instead. That is beyond dispute.
I stopped there.
Not that this idiot has ever thought anything through. But does he realize that the evidence room is in these police building along with open cases.
The torching of one police station allows rapist, pedophiles, sexual traffickers, and murderers to go free. Also, allows the ones already to convicted to request new trials and get set free from lack of evidence. Then their are the cold cases that will never get solved.
To crush any opposition to leftist policies.
I guess youre missing the point here. Theres a growing movement on the left to get rid of police. To literally have no cops.
