Correct, at least in my State. The use of deadly force is legal to protect yourself or someone else. I’m not sure if that’s the case everywhere though.
This is a benefit of Red States. At least those Red States where people in the elected offices are sane.

200 yards is probably the longest shot in a neighborhood. Most will be less than 100 yards. A .22 will be enough sniper rifle for that. Especially if you can “quieten” it. An M-4gery with a red dot is what I recommend for neighborhood social work. Anyway, it was all a hoax as I thought. A bunch of Karens getting played.
