Target CEO Releases statement supporting protestors: This has "unleashed the pent-up pain of years"

To those who've been critical of the protesters who are looting and burning down Targets -- please, shut up. The CEO of Target has officially issued a statement in response to the nationwide protests in the wake of the recent murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and Geoge Floyd. The CEO, Brian Cornell, penned an open letter in support of the protesters and communities across America that are constantly dealing with police brutality.

"We are a community in pain. That pain is not unique to the Twin Cities—it extends across America. The murder of George Floyd has unleashed the pent-up pain of years, as have the killings of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. We say their names and hold a too-long list of others in our hearts. As a Target team, we’ve huddled, we’ve consoled, we’ve witnessed horrific scenes similar to what’s playing out now and wept that not enough is changing. And as a team we’ve vowed to face pain with purpose," reads the letter.

It’s hard to see now, but the day will come for healing—and our team will join our hearts, hands and resources in that journey. Even now, Target leaders are assembling community members, partners and local officials to help identify what more we can do together and what resources are required to help families, starting right here in Minnesota."

“Target CEO Releases statement supporting protestors: This has “unleashed the pent-up pain of years””

why didn’t he just say: “We welcome you to loot and then burn down all of our stores. We’ve made sure that no one will be there to stop you, you know, because pent-up pain or something”?

“With leadership like this Target will eventually vanish and not a moment too soon.”

I wish that’d be the case - but it probably won’t happen.

Other than Wal-Mart, there’s really no national or regional competition I can think of.

K-Mart’s darned near gone. Shopko (a smaller city Midwest institution) is gone.

Another reason to never visit Target, which gets no sympathy from me for their looted stores. May they be looted, dispossessed and impoverished. And may their soyboy ilk struggle to find meaningful job advancement if they stand by and silently applaud. Words fail to adequately capture the depravity and willful ignorance of such morons. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.

What is the threshold number that qualifies as a permissible protest theft, versus an improper shoplifting?

Freudian slip, Sarah? “I stopped shooting at Target.”..rather than shopping at Target...understandable whether a slip or an intentional ironic pun.
