PITTSBURGH Crowds of people are gathering across the Pittsburgh area to rally in response to the death of George Floyd in Minnesota. Floyd died while in police custody earlier this week.
Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter in Floyds death. Chauvin is accused of keeping his knee on the Floyds neck for more than eight minutes.
UPDATE 5:50 p.m.: Protests have turned violent and the crowd has split into groups across the city. No one has been injured, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.
UPDATE 5:46 p.m.: A second police car is now on fire in downtown Pittsburgh.
