Some of the NRA news is dated, as this is from nine months ago, but the rest is still very relevant.

Am I the only one who would find it uncomfortable to pronounce the acronym in the presence of an actual member of the organization?

National African American Gun Association, or NAAGA

Please pardon me for not trying to say the acronym in public.

Any law abiding citizen...of any color...has a Constitutional right to “keep and bear arms”.So why does See BS feel the need to put this out?

Go to Charleston SC and take a carriage ride around the historic district toward the battery, You will see homes surrounded with high iron fences with long, sharp spikes on top of them. They were terrified of a slave uprising.

How long do you think slavery would have lasted if the general slave population had been armed? Given history, I have never understood why so many black Americans oppose the 2nd Amendment.

Boy, no bias in the headline or the reporting there.

I especially like how they conflate the NRA’s losing board members with a drop in membership. The media does such a great job of dropping facts then claim innocence when people complain that their carefully-chosen facts don’t represent the truth.

The country's largest and best known gun rights association, the NRA, is losing board members amid a spate of deadly mass shootings.

What goes unsaid is that gun sales are soaring - a lot of first-time gun buyers during this COVID-19 shutdown according to stories. The NRA's difficulties have nothing to do with mass shootings and everything to do with their own management.

“””And so by bein’ able to protect ourselves, by training properly and getting our practice in, and learning how to defend ourselves, at least we will be able to fight back if we are attacked — from white supremacists or white nationalists.” “””

We had to know that if CBS is reporting, there has to be an reason.

Nary a comment from CBS that maybe the reason blacks are owning guns is to protect themselves in DEMOCRAT cities from the burlars, rapists, and murderers who break into their homes.

My goodness... I thought the title was about ARs and AKs...
Terrible rifles, both...
Oh well, our ‘64 gun control acts were all about disarming blacks; it is entirely fitting that blacks should lead the re-armament charge!

I remember “Death of the NRA “ articles way back in 1968. I believe they are still around. They are the lightning rod for all anti-gun arguments.

“The country’s largest and best known gun rights association, the NRA, is losing board members amid a spate of deadly mass shootings.”

What a (unsurprisingly) dishonest statement from CBS News. I recall David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez and their antics following the Parkland tragedy ended being a huge windfall for the NRA in terms of membership and donations to the point that the NRA ought to have sent them gift baskets in thanks for their work.

I remember a black gun group way back in the 1970s. Can’t remember who started it but it was a conservative group.

As the Dred Scott decision way back in 1857 said about the rights of citizens...and if blacks were to be considered citizens...

“It would give to persons of the negro race, who were recognised as citizens in any one State of the Union, the right to enter every other State whenever they pleased, singly or in companies, without pass or passport, and without obstruction, to sojourn there as long as they pleased, to go where they pleased at every hour of the day or night without molestation, unless they committed some violation of law for which a white man would be punished;

and it would give them the full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might speak; to hold public meetings upon political affairs,
and to KEEP AND CARRY ARMS wherever they went.”

Therefore they concluded that blacks were not citizens, and this led to the Civil War.

I became an NRA life member in the 80s. Today, I’d go a different route to start with, like Gun Owners of America. The NRA has lost its way.

NAAGA is talking about endorsing candidates, which could make them a political force. But the group isn't yet ready, and plans to discuss the issue at their first national conference next year.

This is going to put them at odds with the Democratic Plantation if they're serious about Second Amendment rights.

any American citizen is a complete fool not to have firearms and be ready to use them

especially today with the leftist political hacks taking even our basic liberties (and jobs) away from us

we are soooooooooooooooo close to a Nazi police state, its not even funny. like, they want to keep us imprisoned in our homes and then to track our every move outdoors.... and they want to impoverish us so that they, and they alone, will have the power to give us food or medical care, or not.

be armed or KYAG

The article starts off by saying how membership in the NRA is down due to mass shootings. Seriously? It’s because of the in fighting and power grabs within the NRA that people were sick about..
