The order changes none of that. The actions of Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter to delete and denounce some content but not others means they are asserting editorial control on the issues of the day and are not common carriers.

The socialist media sites did this to themselves. They can’t have it both ways.

Social media should be held accountable for failure to crack down on incitements to violence, like Ice Cube (of “F*** the Police” fame) spreading a misleading meme of the Minnesota cop next to a pic of a racist felon who is not the cop.

It’s the equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theater.

Since these big tech companies support the defaming types with donations such as the hired SPLC at Amazon without fact checking them, I suggest the next defamation and terrorism tort suits against such non profits be targeting their source, which is big tech and social media.

Can some President, say 5 years from now, apply this logic to the Free Republic? If that's the route you are going, I don't see why not.

Sorry, but I am a believer in freedom of choice, private property and capitalism. Facebook and Twitter are private companies and can set whatever rules they want just like JR does here. If you don't like the rule, get the hell out and go to a site more to your liking.

Ya know, there are alternatives to Facebook and Twitter. It is possible to create such sites and treat Liberals the way conservatives are treated there.

Full disclosure: I am on both sites but haven't visited them in years. The last straw for me on Twitter was when I was suspended for 2 weeks for saying "Transgenderism is a mental disorder" This was said in a back and forth in what I thought was a level headed discussion. I was not trolling anyone and certainly did not use profanity. My solution was to say to hell with them and not visit the sites anymore.

I look forward to the EO countering the Lawfare in the courts.

Laura Loomer’s lawsuit failed same day decision to drop the EO.

Is falsifying information, misinformation, disinformation, and outright propaganda not considered sedition when it relates to trying to overturn our government? Joseph Goebbels would be proud of our media, both social and “news”. This is exactly how the Germans deceived the people during WWII. Shut down FB and Twitter. Don’t give them any privileged exemptions. Let the law suits begin!

I don't think this EO will stand. I don't see the authority behind it. That said, I quit Facebook couple years back and never signed on to Twitter which is pointless, IMO.

I personally think social media sites have harmed out society and turning the users into addicted zombies.

Contrarian view : Jack is happy to see this happen. Note that Jack's first mega-wave of knocking conservatives off Twitter was Summer of 2016, when he banned Milo for making fun of that sheboon from Ghostbusters, then in rapid fashion used that setup to ban other, more serious conservatives.

Meanwhile, Jack secretly met twice with Google and begged them to buy Twitter: 'see, I'm virtue signaling by cracking down on conservatives, just imagine what you can do once you buy it', but at the time Google didn't want the outlet -- having been burned by their awful collapse of Google+ -- and they thought Cankles was going to win and regulate conservatives from the top-down, rather than force the social media conglomerates to do so. Finally, as with all things capitalist, Jack's asking price was too high (and he wanted on Google's Executive Board).

This is simply a repeat of the 2016 pattern. He wants Google to buy Twitter.

If this EO doesn't actually cost Jack his fortune, then he doesn't care. Trump needs to punish Jack directly, reveal his phone calls, his contacts, his mess of a personal life.

Some time ago, didn’t Twitter require President Trump to NOT delete the nasty comments that moonbats posted on his Twitter page?

But Twitter did NOT require the same of Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, or any other liberal politician.

How is that allowed? Two-sets of rules?
