House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) yanked a vote scheduled for Wednesday night on a bill reauthorizing lapsed surveillance programs after opposition from Republicans and progressives made it unclear if it could pass.
Members are advised that votes are no longer expected in the House tonight, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyers (D-Md.) office announced shortly after 9:30 p.m.
A Democratic aide confirmed that there would be no further votes in the House on Wednesday.
The decision to pull the vote comes after House Democratic leadership vowed on Wednesday to give the legislation a vote and worked furiously behind the scenes to try to shore up support for the bill.
But the fate of the bill remained in doubt going into Wednesday evening. House Democratic leadership delayed starting debate over the bill, instead bringing up unrelated, noncontroversial bills. The chamber then went into three 15-minute breaks as discussions continued off the floor.

They don’t have the votes.
Pressure your representative to vote against.
The FISA Court has been proven NOT to work the way it was supposed to, instead it has shown it’s self to be nothing more than a politically useful tool to destroy the Republic.
Let the court die.
Legitemate law enforcement ought to be mad as he77 at the jokers who abused the FISA process for their own gain. Obama, single-handedly has destroyed this very valuable tool.
Good. Kill FISA.
Then drive a stake through its heart.
Then burn it.

To have a national police force, which has virtually unlimited powers to look into every corner of your life, is incompatible with a free country. Just as here, such unfettered power inevitably leads to abuse of that power to “get” those whom you have a grudge, or difference of opinion with.
End FISA - end the Patriot Act. Both are blatantly unconstitutional.
There is no argument to be had.
Secret courts?
No right for a trial by jury?
Can’t see the evidence against you?
This would be funny if it were just a stupid idea someone had and if it weren’t real!
“The Speaker announced that votes on suspensions, if ordered, will be postponed until a time to be announced. “
Perhaps this has something to do with it.

The Politico article.
It doesn’t explain that vote either.
Very strange.
The FISA court was created in the aftermath of the abuses exposed by the Church commission. It was intended to be a court where the FBI would get judicial permission to do all that they did illegally before.
They immediately turned it into a rubberstamp and a place to hide their activities while being able to claim legality.
Secret courts enforcing secret law have no place in America.
FISA and PATRIOT must go.
The FISA court should have been terminated the day the Rats revealed their indifference to 9-11.
The FISA court is just one more entity the can corrupt
Looks like a vote on a ‘point of order’ or some crap like that - rather than a final vote. But I’m not sure either.
