The “free market” solution won’t work. Certain things get entrenched in the public’s mind - and that’s that. Why aren’t there 1,000 successful sites competing with Ebay? Or Paypal? Why do people always call it “Scotch tape”? Because people are creatures of habit and things get entrenched.
To pretend that some no-name social media platform is suddenly going to rise out of the earth to compete with Twitter is nonsense. Something’s got to be done with the systems that exist now.
