From the Executive branch-— all you list and then some, all cabinet level agencies, and all others under other levels— things like the Bureau of Land Management. National Park Service. Environmental Protection Agency.

In point of fact, any internet platform that performs editing, including shadow banning or algorithmic removal of circulation on a neutral platform.... becomes a publisher and not a provider, and cannot weasel out of their decision to be a publisher by Terms of Use “terms of Art” dodges. This entire thing turns on the issue of being a publisher.

Thus any and all Executive branch responsibilities, DOD and all service branches, DHS (and all of their agencies, ICE,Border Patrol) cannot be part of a Publisher and contribute any Content legally from the Executive of the US government. Content that may be subjected by others to editing and mis-direction. If one substituted the word— “newspaper” for twitter, it would be like allowing the NYTimes to be a medium of communication for government (hmmmm— to the crooked FBI...the reporters are all on the payroll for manipulation of the readers of false information

This EO is brilliant, and a simple argument. The Executive is not run by .... media which publishes. US Law treats this action of publishing with.... liability. Costly.

If we can’t innovate, we deserve what the liberals serve to us. But at any rate, this move by the president is unconstitutional on its face. If the shoe were on the other foot, we’d shouting constitutional issues immediately.

Then why is it ok for FR to ban a liberal? Private company rights, that’s why. Same for Twitter.

Not even close to the same thing and you know it. Most of those large corporations are not even American owned and certainly have no interest in our Constitutional government and in fact are actively working to undermine it. Only yje US is stupid snug to let the Chicoms practically own their institutions of higher learning. Not to mention they have fingers in so many of our businesses that they likely have functional control of many of them and guess what they are not private citizens they are government agents of the Communist regime of China.

But feel free to blather on about private businesses when they are not private at all.

Like Mariner said, censorship is a 2-way street.

You may not be aware but Trump is trying to restore censored content instead of letting them censor select content. Try and keep up they are censoring left and right and Trump is trying to prevent that so what is our beef?

You better cheer on when a D is prez and starts running the EO’s against guns or free speech or whatever.

Yeah then you will see real censorship again. Trump is trying to stop it, not institute it moron.

Amazing how all of a sudden conservatives are fans of big, regulatory government. Hope the 30 pieces of silver is worth it.

Big corporations no longer have the best interest of the American people or their government in their operational guidelines. Many of them have the interest of their Communistic investors at heart. Wise up.

Trump knows this and is moving to get a head start on that battle.

Thank you.

Remember the good old days when conservatives were in favor of dismantling the regulatory state and letting freedom blossom through competition in the market? Yeah, me too.

That was long before we let the ChiComs compete in our industry The are not private except in name and custom, they are agents of the ChiCom government, time to wake up to that fact. Private business is hardly private anymore if they are they are still closed until the Red State Governors say they can open.

This is an awful idea! Not only is it dictatorial and probably unconstitunional, it sets a precedent for the future. You might not like twitter, but who`s gonna be next? And if Trump can do this so can future presidents who might not be conservative.

No no no, it’s ok when our side does it. Always remember that.

Congress has the power to overturn a regulation OR executive order by passing legislation that invalidates it. Congress can also refuse to provide funding necessary to carry out certain policy measures contained with the order or to legitimize policy mechanisms. In the case of the former, the president retains the power to veto such a decision; however, the Congress may override a veto with a two-thirds majority to end an executive order.

social media companies are empty vessels

In past tense, they were. But not in the year 2020.
