AOC understands her constituents, they don't need no stinkin jobs. They don't need to pay taxes. Let the volunteers who answered Gov. Cuomo's call for help pay those usurious tax rates. They need unemployment/funemployment for as long as the dems can get it for them. From the other 40 states.

Hey, at least no one from her district — or from downstate NY in general — is being "exploited" by Amazon for "profit."

Why doesn’t New York just Tax Unemployment Benefits and Welfare Benefits to make up for the loss, there are plenty of New People to TAX in these programs.

Not only that but Amazon is likely to DOUBLE its present size over the next year or two. Scared old ladies who didn’t even know what an internet was are going to be staying locked inside and ordering everything to their house from Amazon from denture cleaners to yarn supplies.

I just heard that Amazon is building a new distribution center in Syracuse, New York It should be completed by the end of 2021.

Did the linked story point out the stunning stupidity of AOC describing tax relief as if it were cash payments to Amazon? But of course her idiot fawning supporters think like that. Journalists are clueless as well.
Yeah ! Now since we ran Amazon out of town we have all kinds of extra money to spend that we almost gave them in tax relief. lets see. Where do we want to spend that now!
Try again.

I know people who live where the HQ was going to be built. The anti-gentrification crowd in no way wanted it there for fear their property values and property taxes would go up!
We had a similar situation in NC in southern Raleigh a few years ago. Wegmans wanted to open a store in a low income area who's only supermarket had closed. Community Organizers fought against it claiming it would raise property values, they eventually won.
This is the world we are living in!

I have no interest in defending AOC on this, but she didnt lead anything on this fiasco. The whole thing was driven by a couple of NY state legislators who represent districts in that area, and AOC simple jumped on a bandwagon that was already well on its way to destroying the Amazon deal by the time she was elected.
