The 20 year old covid patient beat the elderly patient in a nursing home.

Seems the first stories out about this over the past few days were a little bit in error.

Either that or I’ve warped to the wrong planet.

Something else that jumped out at me was this line:

"What he did is wrong and (I offer) my apologies to the victim's family."

Presumably, it was the author of the Fox News article who added the "(I offer)" to the sentence, for clarification, but why? Without that addition, the statement is: "What he did is wrong and my apologies to the victim's family" which is a perfectly understandable sentence, and is even a common colloquial usage. Did the author think that without his addition, no one would understand what the man was saying?

Also, shouldn't the author have used brackets "[I offer]" rather than parentheses?
