Same here. I think New York City's a unique situation, but I think that the situation isn't quite as laid out in the article. People in despair are probably far more numerous outside of the critical care area right now. Not that it doesn't happen in medicine too - I think it's probably under-reported because there is a stigma attached to mental illness and being diagnosed, for example, as bipolar would be a serious blemish on a doctor's record in some instances, I think.
If you put your all into a small business, only to have it forced closed by the government, and see no light at the end of the tunnel - no way to pay the bills, the rent, the staff - you may be inclined to be a bit depressed.
