Imagine for 2 seconds what would happen to the US economy if everything we rely on China to produce for us suddenly just stopped. How many things CAN you even buy today that aren’t at least made in part in China?

Sort of like us now, huh?

They’re liars, cheats, and thieves, and they’re selling us garbage at cheaper prices because it’s produced by slaves living in a communist hell.

I agree but they are not just selling us junk, some of their products are great, iPhones among them. Granted it is Apple engineered but they make very good stuff even if stolen ideas are used.

I remember when the Hyundai (granted not Chinese)was introduced as the original disposable car, now they can offer a 200,000 mile warranty.

I believe the only thing that can save health care is Artificial Intelligence. Individual doctors can never store the knowledge of symptoms that a database can.

Manual labor will sooner than we think will become a rarity. Massive machines do farming now that used to require millions of cheap labor illegals. Machines like that require a big upfront investment that smaller farms can not come up with which will doom small farms, but it will happen.

Yes, when the Chinese are told exactly how to make something, they can mass produce the thing someone else designed. And they’re capable of mass producing a design handed to them to the letter. They often simply choose to cheap out on the materials and/or the workmanship because they’re cheats. And while they’re mass producing the design you gave them, they’re stealing every bit of technology they can to use in new products they can sell to compete with you. Because they’re thieves. And when you call them on it, they’ll say how dare you accuse them of such a thing, because they’re liars.

Nobody should be doing business with China. The people in Europe committing to China’s Belt and Road Initiative are committing economic suicide. The people in Africa signing contracts with China for rare Earth minerals are seeing their only available natural resources extracted for pennies by Chinese companies using Chinese labor, denying future generations a potential major source of economic expansion. And all the western nations that have farmed out their manufacturing to China, only to see their former factory workers unable to afford to buy the products they used to make are feeling it too. This was a major fault President Trump identified early on and used to beat Clinton in 2016.

China is waging all-out economic war on every part of the world. And they’ve convinced us to politely thank them for it.

You may not be politically tuned in enough to understand what the diplomatic language says, but the Chinese know exactly what the Taiwan Relations Act means...especially the “grave concern” input.

TRA..
“The act further stipulates that the United States will “consider any effort to determine the future of Taiwan by other than peaceful means, including by boycotts or embargoes, a threat to the peace and security of the Western Pacific area and of grave concern to the United States”.

The Brits abandoned them with the clear understanding as to what would transpire. The 50 year phase in was a farce and they knew it.

The West cowers. The long journey to the prelude to war.

It was (is?) a standard read in many officer courses of study. That was decades ago, but cannot imagine it is ignored now. Then again with todays military anything goes if it feels goood.

Yes they are, so who is the dumb ones? We rave about our drones as if we are the only ones who have or ever will have them and we got the tech from Israel who was making them for a couple hundred dollars.

I agree that they sell us junk but I don't agree that they can't make quality stuff just because we are willing to buy the junk.

Sorry, but you’re mistaken. A big cotton harvester can pick an entire field clean in half a day, and simultaneously gin and bail it. But no small farmer in Georgia would ever need to own one, because a contractor goes from farm to farm, harvesting and trucking away the finished bails for a fee. Done and done. No labor problems, no delays, no big investments. Saw it with my own eyes while staying in Georgia. So, too, with other such machines.

Sorry, but you’re mistaken.

That is one crop I doubt that will translate to everything since some crops require constant tending. But I certainlyhope you are right.

Tending has to be done by hand. There is no replacement for weeding with a hoe. But I’ve seen corporate films of tomato farms that coat the ground with plastic instead of mulch, then perforate the plastic to plant the tomato seedlings.

A lot of crops are done that way. I currently live in Southern OR. and I see neatly arranged earth beds covered with plastic ready to plant, with what I don't know. Most of what I see in modern farming technique is via YouTube so I am no expert, but I know it is being done.
