Not Jumbaliah but “jump for your life” in the bijou.

Doing the “Bullet Dodging Bugalou in Bugalosa”.

I assume the shooters were wearing anti-virus face masks so the only descriptions people gave of them were black males with blue facemasks, like everyone else around the memorial service.

“Police alert: Be on the lookout for two black males wearing blue face masks. Oh never mind. You’d have to pick up every male in he city”. /sarc

An 'extremely large' crowd was gathered in a vacant lot on Martin Luther King Drive at East 4th Street to remember Dominique James, 29, investigators said.

One thing I've learned is that if I'm ever in a strange city, always avoid "Martin Luther King" Boulevard, Road, Street, Drive, etc.

I, like many others, was initially upset about naming major thoroughfares around the country after a Communist.

My view has changed and I consider every offramp sign for MLK drive, street, and Blvd a Public Service Message.

It tells me to ignore that engine light, the knocking coming from under my hood, and smoke streaming behind me like a Japanese Zero attacked by Pappy Boyington and hold out for the next exit, no matter what.

Thanks, MLK.

...Martin Luther King Drive at East 4th Street...

Rev. King would be disappointed to learn that roads bearing his name are typically unsafe.

This happened in beautiful Bogalusa, one of the ugliest and most depressing cities in the state. The case is interesting an actual who dunnit. This shooting would seem to frame it as being connected with on going ‘tension’ between a pretty large group of black people who came up after Katrina and remained at the local ‘boyz in da hood’.

That sort of tribal nonsense is, ironically, what kept the big west coast "super gangs" out of New Orleans prior to Katrina. Each public housing project was essentially its own gang, and the outside groups were not able to gain traction there.

I'm not sure I buy that explanation now, though, almost fifteen years down the road. Bogalusa has had its own such problems since well before Katrina. Lots of meth being cooked up there near the Louisiana - Mississippi border in recent years.

“martin luther king drive”
Yes, what could go wrong there?
It is the longest street in America, bound to have some troubles or that drive.

Probably so. Bogalusa as a meth center makes sense. No other town of any size that I have been in has the grittiness of the ‘Miracle City’. It is a harsh place with many harsh people.
