Former Vice President and the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is looking to expand the number of swing states in play in this November’s election, targeting Republican-leaning states in his bid to unseat President Donald Trump.
Alongside traditional battleground states like Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, and New Hampshire – the former three of which Trump won in 2016 – the Biden presidential campaign believes it can bring traditionally reliable GOP states into play, like Texas, Georgia, and Arizona, which hold a combined 65 electoral votes, or nearly a quarter of the 270 needed to win the election.
Jen O’Malley Dillon, a Biden campaign manager, told reporters Friday that the campaign would be focused both on winning back Democratic-leaning states which Trump flipped in 2016 – like Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania – as well as traditional battleground states like Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio.
But O’Malley Dillon added that the campaign is also eyeing Republican strongholds like Texas, Georgia, and Arizona to broaden the electoral map in play.

Maybe Oregon, Colorado and Virginia?
I think Wisconsin will be harder for them, true. But the Democrats won state wide elections for governor and senator in 2018, which concerns me a bit. And I agree with you on North Carolina and Arizona. If the Democrats flip those then Wisconsin doesn't matter.

It will recover but it'll take time.
Without Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin the Trump has 260 votes. That includes the one electoral vote he took from Maine and the two faithless voters from Texas. It takes 270 to win.
Republicans haven't carried Oregon since 1988, and Virginia has gone Blue probably for good. Colorado is probably not flippable in the best of times, and with Hickenlooper beating up on Gardner then it probably will remain Blue as well.

Maybe we're missing something here. I've scanned the comments on this thread and over the last few weeks heard snide remarks about this "guy in the basement."
I've even read the scholarly opinion piece in the May 7th New York Time entitled, How Joe Biden Can Defeat Trump From His Basement.
But there's something all the media pundits are missing. In fact, I believe it's a secret weapon Joe Biden's campaign will soon unleash:

21st century socializing in bars, businesses, libraries, and gyms is old-hat folks. The cool Democrat stays home in his basement and builds his record collection with Covid19 checks from Uncle Sam.
Forget surfing the web and commenting on social media. Biden's onto something big. He's dissing these electronic gadgets (though he still likes to play PONG on his 1980s vintage Texas Instruments personal computer).
Instead, Biden is gonna throw Donald Trump for a loop with his hip phonograph player as he "spins up" LPs like the Age of Aquarius from the 5th Dementia, the Monkees, and the Beach Boys.
Folks, we need to rethink everything we thought we knew about Trump's re-election plan. Biden's no dog-faced pony soldier. He could actually win this thing with his cool basement-hermit stratergy!

Trump today outlined the perfect strategy to beat Biden........simply put, Biden just does not exist for Trump.

I think you’re right, Liz. Why give the guy any publicity whatsoever. Obamagate is the perfect diversion. It hits a lot of targets at the same time.
In fact, anything Trump chooses to talk about — Ukraine, China, Obamagate — all relegate Sleepy Joe to his basement.

OOPS, my bad, it is 260. I think I am missing WI as the 10 EV spot. So when Trump won WI early in 2016, I knew he had a real path without having to rely on any western states.
