I think everyone who believes all of this nonsense should wear masks for the rest of their lives and stay at home permanently. No vaccine is a cure. Every year we have a new flu vaccine but tens of thousands die from the flu every year and all ages from babies, children, and on up. Good luck. I will take my chances getting immunity from this virus. I have lived through much worse China viruses Asian flu and Hong Kong flu than this one without any mask or shut downs. Good luck.
The entire continent of Asia has been wearing facemasks, for months.
They work.

Thanks for the info!
The punishment part was overruled. Not the instruction to wear masks at all times.
Even though I think the science behind it is questionable, Im not hostile to governments recommending, not mandating, the wearing of masks (i) only for brief periods in enclosed public spaces, and (ii) only after consulting with a physician for people with certain medical conditions.
I say the science is questionable because while there is mixed evidence that cloth or surgical masks can plausibly serve as source control in laboratory conditions, there is little to no real evidence that it is effective for source control for the general public in real world conditions. There are also no studies of the risks of wearing non-standard, home made masks by untrained, unsupervised people without medical guidance. Yes, the author may be a kook, but the concerns he raises are legitimate and he is hardly the first to raise them. Those concerns are the basis for the OSHA regs I cited elsewhere in this thread.
I have found many male Karens.
The reg doesnt make that distinction. See post 24.
When I worked I worked in a class one clean room.
I aint gonna wear no stinkin mask
There is no proof that asymptomatic people have enough viral load to be carriers of anything
If you dont feel well....is your sick... stay home
Wash you Fing hands
Indeed. I wore a surgical mask for about an hour today when taking my kid to the doctor. The heat and moisture from my breath being directed up over my eyes and face caused me to sweat quite a bit, and I constantly found myself wiping my forehead.
Which was great when my kid was diagnosed with strep. Hopefully I dont end up with pinkeye as a result.
The mask is to prevent sick from spreading it.

It’s easy to see how a mask could protect people from sneezers and coughers, who shouldn’t be out anyway. But is there any evidence that a mask, especially a bandito-type mask, can filter out viruses from ordinary breathing, trapping them in the mask? Viruses are much smaller than dust particles.
What kind of car does Karen drive? I bet it’s a Range Rover.
I went to the valved ones a couple years ago when I was doing a lot of physical exertion grinding fiberglass inside a boat. Much easier breathing. The mask’s valves do direct the exhale downward, so there is some benefit.
“Pretty much useless, and creating a false sense of security, IMO.”
It is that.
But to assert it causes the average Joe harm going to the grocery store is ludicrous.
At least.
Only healthcare workers wear a mask for 4+hrs per day. The average Joe will wear it for maybe an hour.
“Can’t breathe with them.”
Your premise is exactly false. Are you really that low IQ? Or what kind of person are you to declare, in public, an obvious lie? WTF?
Sorry about your child. The mask are a haven for sickness. Our family had a trip planned to DisneyWorld back in April which had to be cancelled. Disney says they will probably open in July but you have to wear masks. No way am I going to Orlando Fla in July and wearing a friggin mask in 96-98 degree weather standing in long lines. We will all die there.
LOL!
Agree — wearing a mask for an half-hour or hour or so in the grocery store, Costco or Home Depot type store is fine, and it might prevent some cross-contamination, esp. with hand-washing and being observant ... but long-term, day after day, with questionable 100% compliance and so many opportunities to accidentally spread (cell phones, door handles, elevator buttons, counter-tops, items picked up and put back) ... I don’t think that’s working at all
Thank you, that’s a great help.
