China Threatens GOP Lawmakers. Their Responses Are Perfect.

Republican-led efforts to hold China accountable for the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus are being watched closely by the communist regime.

State-run media reported Thursday that Republican lawmakers will “face severe consequences” for speaking out against China, pursuing lawsuits, and pushing “anti-China” legislation.

“Republicans who have been groundlessly accusing China and inflaming the 'holding China accountable' political farce will face severe consequences, sources said, noting that the aftermath will also impact the upcoming November elections, while business and trade between Missouri and China will be further soured,” the Global Times, a branch of the Communist Party of China's People's Daily, wrote in an article.

The article focused on efforts by Missouri’s Attorney General Eric Schmitt who sued the country last month on behalf of the state arguing the communist country is responsible for Missourians’ suffering, death and economic hardship.

"The Chinese government lied to the world about the danger and contagious nature of COVID-19, silenced whistleblowers, and did little to stop the spread of the disease," Schmitt said. "They must be held accountable for their actions."

The article also singled out Sens. Josh Hawley and Tom Cotton and two other members of Congress over legislation that would allow Americans to sue China, saying they will be added to the country’s sanctions list.

Reps. Dan Crenshaw, Chris Smith, Jim Holzapfel, Greg McGuckin and John Catalano as well as Sens. Marsha Blackburn, Rick Scott, Martha McSally, and Lance Gooden were also named in the piece over their support of legislative efforts that would let U.S. citizens sue China.

"We must resolutely hit back at those politicians who, for no reason, undermine China-US ties for their own political benefits. For those who promote anti-China legislation, we need to find out what the business ties are between those officials or their families with China," one research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences told the paper. "We can't just strike back symbolically, but should impose countermeasures that could make them feel the pain.”

Republicans were unfazed by the threat.

Crackdown on Taiwan, if not invade with more than just police. They’ve already started, and are making even more overt warnings about Taiwan joining the WHO.

China is dangerous mostly for 2 primal reasons. First, they are imperialistic, and openly want to dominate the world, which starts with Taiwan. Second, they don’t value human life, which makes war, both overtly and covertly likely, for anyone who stands in their way.

So where are Democrats? I thought liberals hated those that use exploitative labor like the Chinese do?

Great post that mirrors many of my thoughts.

One should never trade with a communist government that literally owns all the industry in their country, as they will slush their money around to selectively target your most valuable industries, just as they have done to us. Those Lenovo computers with back doors built in the firmware are sold at a net loss, for example, yet our government still allows them to win lowest bid contracts for out agencies.

Only government can stop it, as our companies have to use slave labor themselves to even compete. Unfortunately many of the leaders of our government are so far unwilling to do so.

They are one of those countries that is far from self sufficient.

Add us to that dubious list as well, if it’s true that all of our antibiotics are manufactured outside the country, with most coming from China.

I don’t believe in coincidences either.

When Canada arrested the Huawei executive a while back China retaliated in a wide range of trade sanctions etc. They also arrested a couple of Canadian businessmen who happened to have the bad luck of being in China at the wrong time. They are still in jail there btw. To quote a line from the movie The Sting.....vindictive as hell Henry

Partner, even our POTUS tells us not to trade with the Chicoms at all, since they will cheat, steal, copy and lie about what they are doing to our businesses.

Lenovo used to be owned by IBM but they sold it to the Chicoms and now I see they are selling them at Costco , Sams, etc.

We need to have a rule in Congress that we will do like our own Constitution says and that is we need to have American born CEO's.

The foreigner CEO's will not put the interest of our country first and foremost and they do not care about our country.

I’d prefer a little more diplomacy...defined by Will Rogers as saying, “Nice doggie!” while looking for a rock.

Partner, I agree with your statements 100%.

The Chicoms want to be the no. 1 country in the world and they have screwed up but I hope our country sees what a lousy country and the really sad part is that we have built them up to where they are right now.

The Clintoons wanted the Chicoms to be at the same level as us. Bill Clintoon gave them everything and so did Miss Hillary.

W. gave them way too much.

Then along comes "The America Hating Piece of Work Obama" and Obama gave the Chicoms everything they wanted since Obama is so anti-America.

Our major concern should not be the concern over antibiotics. There are bigger fish in the pond.

In November 2018, Chinese scientist He Jiankui of the Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen China announced that he used the gene-editing technique CRISPR-Cas9. CRISPR-Cas9 is a unique technology that enables geneticist and medical researchers to edit parts of the genome by removing, adding, or altering sections of DNA sequences. The invention of CRISPR has made gene editing far easier to successfully use on any type of cell from human to virus. The initial experiments were to create a resistance to HIV thus right in the wheelhouse of virile altering or possibly manufacturing.

The US Director of National Intelligence added gene editing to a list of threats posed by WMD and proliferation back in 2016 when they were still in experimentation.

China is leading the world in biological research and gene editing. Biological weapons are not a thing of science fiction, and China’s alleged program is only the beginning. They currently sell bio weapons to Pakistan (6.57 billion units), Bangladesh (1.99 billion units) and Myanmar (1.28 billion units), according to SIPRI.

One of their biggest buyers is Iran. Besides a full array of conventional weapons, China has provided a range of assistance to Iran’s NBC programs: “China has sent entire factories to Iran for producing chemicals and bio vaccines that can also be used to make poison gas, and tons of industrial chemicals that could be used in making nerve agents and both vaccines and weapons for bio use. State-owned firms in China provided supplies to Iran’s weapons program, including such dual-use items as chemical precursors, production equipment, and production technology. Non-state-owned firms may also have sold chemical and bio related equipment, decontamination agents, and precursors to Iranian military organizations in 1996 and 1997. U.S. intelligence reports leaked to the press indicate China may have sold Iran dual-use equipment and vaccines for biological weapons. And they still sell today.

According to the Rand Corporation, as authored by DANIEL L. BYMAN and ROGER CLIFF in Project Air Force on recommended actions with the increased sale from China to Iran:

“China’s arms sales will continue to make the future security environment more dangerous. Although Beijing’s behavior is improving, continued pressure is necessary to minimize China’s most dangerous sales, particularly those to rogue regimes. China has been, and can be, influenced by U.S. pressure, although some level of sales is likely to continue. Thus, Washington must hedge against the likelihood of sales, developing offsets in concert with allies to minimize danger.”

And as the bucket list of those rogue countries continues to grow in China’s scorecard of sales, we need to stop it now or it will destroy more than just us. The public has never been told how extensive this is. And it is a tightrope to walk on by the US.

Don’t worry as much about curing illness. We have survived even the common cold without a vaccine forever. Be very concerned about stopping them in an artificial form like bio weapons. And China leads the world in sales of those. Look what it’s doing this year alone with one virus.

Great post and much appreciated.

I’ve seen others comment on how China has made bio weapons the central pilar of their “defense” industry, for a variety of reasons.

They’re barbaric in many ways, and we obviously should have never normalized trade relations. We were told this would turn them into a democracy but Xi is the end result.

Time for a 180.

“Time for a 180.”

Well. concerning our support and trade basis with China, we reached maximum at the tail end of the Clinton years when he supported the Asian nations with nuclear and missile technology, and a huge opportunity to trade flooding our country with questionable goods while assisting them with worth, land, and food. It’s just been on autopilot since then. You’ll notice a number of the dates in my post deal with that time frame. There’s more concerning China, but a lot of it is still sensitive and can’t be divulged. And it ain’t pretty.

Since the Clinton era the Chinese have slowly yet surely contributed to (bought influence of) weak or mismanaging politicians' campaigns and interests. Clinton also saw the Chinese replace our manufacturing base with near-slave labor and ethic-less practices like mislabeled shipping containers (sometimes packed with humans), faux brand label knock-offs and a glut of cheap products. Those gave rise to a Walmart Superstore in every municipality that put multiple thousands of small independents out of business. Thus they have been waging war on us in this subtle way for over thirty years now.

Despite the success of this secret warfare they're also set for the traditional kind. Instead of using the billions they made selling us crap to improve their country and the lives of their citizens the Chinese built up the world's most massive military. We don't worry much about it - distance, logistics, every other American has a gun - but they've over a million young men all dressed up with no place to go. They would have absorbed many surrounding countries if not for those pesky kids - the United States military and it's superior technology. They can steal our tech but can't make the slaves reproduce it dependably. If my human spirit were ground down like that I wouldn't give a flying fart either.

And hence we come to biotech weapons laboratories with sloppy procedures...

I’ll tell them to go after me. If they actually do that, I would become a martyr and galvanize the country to act against China.
