Trump weighs in on unmasking: 'Greatest political crime in the history of our country'

President Trump weighed in Thursday in an interview with Fox Business Network on the former Obama officials – including former Vice President Joe Biden and former FBI Director James Comey – who requested to "unmask" former national security adviser Michael Flynn during the transition period between the Trump and Obama administrations.

A list of the then-President Obama officials who made these requests – while an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and alleged Trump campaign collusion in such efforts was ongoing – was made public Wednesday by Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Ron Johnson, R-Wis., after it was declassified by acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.

"It was the greatest political crime in the history of our country," Trump said in an interview with Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo that aired Thursday morning. "If I were a Democrat instead of a Republican, I think everybody would have been in jail a long time ago, and I'm talking with 50-year sentences. It is a disgrace what's happened. This is the greatest political scam, hoax in the history of our country."

Plan B: Pardon him, and raise the roof about Obama and his affirmative action judge all over the USA.

This is a rhetorical problem we run into on both left and right. Something wrong is done... but we then inflate it into “the worst thing ever done in the entire history of the whole world!!!”

Strange world where masking is bad and unmasking is worse. Is there another option?

Oddly enough, a group of former Watergate prosecutors has petitioned Judge Sullivan in General Flynn’s case to allow them to tell him why he MUST prosecute Flynn....

Trump weighs in on unmasking: 'Greatest political crime in the history of our country'

The headline is a joke.

Trump is not saying the unmasking is the "greatest crime in the history of our country."

The unmasking is a small but important part in the larger conspiracy, by the previous administration and large parts of our intelligence agencies, to remove a validly elected President from office and imprison many of his people through the creation of false evidence about an imaginary criminal conspiracy.

It should make Watergate look weak, but it will not.

The mainstream media is already sweeping this under the rug and calling it “routine”.

Yet, when talking about the virus, masking is good and unmasking is bad.
You'd think our illustrious superiors would at least get their terminology straight, lol.
How are we common-folk supposed to keep up with all this? /s

I believe DJT is correct. The individuals who planned and executed the Russia Hoax and all its predicates such as the Flynn affair did more than engage in violation of various laws but attempted to disrupt the peaceful change of executive power. This is the heart of the basic political stability of the Republic and has never been really attempted before. In this case, the highest levels of one major party and its attendant political class members conspired to force the duly elected President from office with a completely false case for removal. This amounts to interfering with the central Constitutional mechanism that has guaranteed the political stability of the nation and protected the Constitutional order since the founding of the nation under the Constitution. Nothing could be more serious in the realm of politics .

The Democrats complete refusal to entertain any responsibility and continued adherence to the Russia narrative is very grave for our political future. To me these activities amount to an offense worse than treason. If successful the Russia hoax would have profoundly damaged the Constitutional basis for our political system.

The Democrats are a criminal syndicate aided by a public relations apparatus that sets and controls every narrative. We have our own channels and sources, but have to communicate with individuals and persuade slowly. They control groupthink. Even with more news and information, they have the final word. And they always skate.
