I am going to step way out on a limb here with the bears waiting below.

Obozo’s “private call” to former members of his team was intentionally leaked (”planted”) in the media as a way to communicate to Clinton-appointed Judge Emmet G Smith. Obozo can’t pick up the phone and call him - it would be worse than his AG Loretta Lynch’s tarmac meeting with BJ Clinton.

Remind you, obozo did this prior to CJ ROberts switch when he made a public statement that the Court needs to be very careful about overturning legislation. Remember I said this if Smith rejects the DOJ’s dropping of the charges. (PS - I think there is a good chance Smith will allow DOJ to w/draw in this case because he went down this road in the Senator Stevens 12 years ago. He’s been had. Hopefully he will use his contempt powers this time around.)
