I see now. He is “Shad”
Sounds fishy.
Packing plants might inadvertently be helping make coronavirus vaccines.
The virus spreads to the meat as well as the other workers.
When the infected meat is cooked at home vaccines might be getting cooked up too.
A mere 2% production reduction is hardly a collapse.
LOL
Interesting theory. It’s the sort of thing that would have to undergo testing.
Agreed. It depends on how long this craziness lasts. Farmers and ranchers are bound by seasons, so I don’t know how much can be restored during the summer, or if vegetable crops planted in the spring have already been plowed under. Dunno. I’m not in that industry.
Youre a busy body.
Farmers have already been sounding the alarm o FoxNews. They say it’s because restaurants and schools are shut down. Well the same amount of people out there need the same amount of food. It’s more a matter of it not getting to the people.

“Record number of corn acres planted this spring. That means abundant cheap animal feed.
Poultry production can ramp up in 7 or so weeks. Hog production in 6 or so months.
Meanwhile, there are stockpiles of frozen meat that are being monitored so producers know when it is a good time to ramp up production.”
Thank you for this information!!!
Agree. Yes restaurant sales are down and school sales are next to none, but all those people still have to eat somewhere. Never thought about commercial v residential pipelines until COVID-19. It even exists with toilet paper!

Bingo.
Using a factory analogy:
“Assembly line” and distribution problems.
Since commercial (restaurants and schools) customers buy in bulk, and residential customers buy in smaller packages, when the commercial contracts don’t get fulfilled, and residential demand increases, the assembly line backs up and product has nowhere to go.
Until the factory retools for smaller packages.
And is allowed to sell to alternative customer locations.
Right. The various states of emergency allow for sale of bulk packaged products on an individual retail basis that it would be otherwise prohibited from selling individually.
we really do need a more ‘local’ market approach to buying food. Like the farm to table that’s become so popular of late, we all need to get back to knowing WHERE our food comes from and who’s growing it.
It’s called “doom porn”. Zero Hedge is full of it. My theory is that people like to be scared, hence the popularity of heart-stopping amusement park rides and gory horror movies. Perhaps it distracts from our everyday humdrum lives. Let’s face it. Life is pretty boring most of the time. It’s brushing our teeth, mowing the yard, and taking out the trash. :-)
East central Illinois here: Most corn has been in the ground for nearly three weeks. Its been too cold for it to sprout. Maybe we will see some green by the end of this week after we get past the 30s the next few days.

SHELVES ARE NEAR EMPTY EXCEPT HIGH PRICE AND BAD TASTING MEAT. NURSERY’S are selling basic fruit and veggies out as fast as they get them. Hog/Beef farms are trying to sell whole or will do half with 2 people. Get a yearling steer. Some will even cut it up for you. People are buying new hatched chickens too for meat and eggs.
Blue states are getting past planting season.
Closed schools, restaurants, soup kitchens, and food banks can only hold a short amount. They forgot the kids still need milk, and all the other produce.
Kroger has a 2 packs of meat limit, Costco and Sam’s rationed to. High price or the cheap crap no one wants.
I had searched “beef” on craigslist about a week ago but didn’t see much except exorbitant prices. I’m seeing a lot more selection now and at better prices. Grass fed and finished, ground beef for $3.25, half/whole cow for $5/lb and a PSA - Don’t get ripped off buying beef. Beef is selling for $1.20 at most sale barns plus they have to pay sell them. You can call most lockers they can set you up. $1.50 is way to high
I’m surrounded by cattle farms. I need to start asking around and see if I can get hooked up.
