I am not going to say So it begins. and Im writing this post to discourage anyone else from saying that. ;-)
honestly this is overkill.
government should not be able to do this. if its a choice of the restaurant to change that is one thing.
to orweliian dictate it is not acceptable in a free society.
It was “popular”? Who knew?
“No soup for you!”
This has been the goal of the leftist vermin. Destroy the American economy.
“We looked at the [federal] Paycheck Protection Program, but even with that we didnt see how we could reopen the restaurants. We cant take that money, its just disingenuous.
Well at least they didn’t try to scam the system. Take some money and run.
Sorry to see so many people lose their jobs.
Wetbacks?
I guess Soupslaves just aren’t what they used to be ...
Pretty remarkable.
I have been to Souplantation a number of times, I think it is okay, I think it is fairly difficult to get $9 of value out of lettuce and carrots and cucumbers, or $12 of value out of lettuce and cucumbers and a bowl of soup. But I thought their food was clean and fresh.
What’s remarkable to me is that a whole chain of restaurants can be out of business in 30 or 45 days. I know a little, not a lot about restaurants. I have no idea how restaurants are going to work if they can only work at 40 to 50% of capacity.
.... Wonder how the virus outbreak will affect the Buffets in Vegas????
This is in regard to self service food stations... what about the 126,000 SELF SERVICE GAS STATIONS in America?
This virus will eventually turn, or is turning, this Country into a "politically correct" nightmare that will strangle our very existence.
Never heard of them.
Sweet Tomatoes with their senior’s low price hours was a favorite place of Mom & me...especially after we both became ‘seniors’
As someone else mentioned, it’s hard to get $X.XX value out of ‘rabbit food’. but it was a fun and convenient place to bond.
Mom left us on March 25...and it wasn’t because of CV, either...she was 95½
So the minimum wage had nothing to do with it? Sounds like this chain was world famous in California. Never heard of a “Salads Are Us” chain in the Midwest.
I’m going to miss the Souplantation, although I did overeat there.
A function of recessions is to eliminate marginal businesses.
Even with the federal government assistance, there are going to be businesses that have been hanging on for maybe years that will close. For the economy, that is good because new strong businesses will sprout
Also, this closing took place in anti business California. There will likely be no sprouts in California because the very soil is poisoned

Why bother with restaurants if we’re going to be treated like Lepers? I mean, if it is that ‘dangerous’ then why go? The useless contaminated mask routines, the 10 patrons per restaurant, the standing 6 magical feet away and handing you your credit card slip using an extended grab tool, all that, is just simply stupid and not the experience I want to pay for.
I lived in San Diego in the mid-late `80s. LOVED Souplantation. Ate there frequently!
With plantation in their name it’s surprising they haven’t already been social justiced into closing.
