So 4 months without rent?. THEN the eviction process can be initiated. Should provide those so inclined to not have to leave until Christmas.

There are so many people that have left and have no intention of returning other than to collect their things . Cuomo should wave all rental agreements if requested.

Live rent free until August. Got it. The landlords have got to love you for that.

Cuomo: No one in New York can be evicted for not paying rent until August 20

Is the state also going to compensate landlords who can't make their mortgage payments because their tenants aren't paying? Or can landlords go pound sand?

Hey Cuomo-hole, why not just say all rent is free?
After all, everything is “free” to liberals.
Which, of course, is one of N reasons that math is not their friends - and N is a really big number.

But do renters have to pay rent they missed? Did I miss that part of the story?

Is the legislature voting on all of this or is Cuomo just issuing commands?

The No. 1 issue that people talk to me about probably is rent, and fear about being able to pay their rent...

Yes, I’m sure that Cuomo spends loads of time with many people that have trouble paying rent.

What about the landlords if they own the property? NY could take the hit here and forgive property taxes during this time also. But NY will demand everyone else takes hits but not the state. They cheaped out of medical supplies even expecting the feds to pick up their slack.

Nothing NY does shocks me anymore. They ask for Co-Vid help, medical people from out-of-state come to aid NY and the Governor announces they will have to pay NY taxes for all work done in NY. The state of greed.

Guessing the process for evicting people in New York is already months long and nothing can start until August. There are going to be a bunch of bankrupt landlords.

NYC has to be one of the worst cities on earth to own property. I grew up there and heard horror stories of it taking FIVE years to evict someone who doesn’t pay rent, this on top of the insane taxes. And even squatters have more rights than owners!!! There was a case I remember of this guy who moved into this old ladies place and she couldn’t get him out. He broke in and took residence, and even came and went and it took forever to get him out as they have “squatters laws”. In more sane cities it’s called freakin BREAKING AND ENTERING but not in the leftist cesspool of NYC!

Here’s another case I found...........

https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/bronx/bronx-landlord-remove-stranger-house-article-1.2066839

Look at this insanity............

“Believe it or not, squatters can claim to be your tenants if they manage to stay on your property for a set amount of time. It doesn’t matter if breaking and entering was involved. If they are there for long enough, they can claim to have taken “adverse possession” of the unit or property. While it seems absurd, it is less strange than the fact that you have to go through the eviction process to get them out once they’ve established adverse possession. Even stranger, if a squatter manages to take over an entire property and remain there uninterrupted for more than 10 years, they can claim ownership.”

I always work with my tenants if they're decent and some life issues are causing trouble paying the rent.

That said, if they ever tried some s**t like this, I'd have them out on their fkn asses August 21.

The question is Andy Pandy, are you still residing in your ex-girlfriend’s home in Westchester County as reported that you were in March of this year, or have you finally moved your ass back to the Governor’s Mansion in Albany? That house was put back up for sale earlier this year, but it hasn’t sold yet. So does this mean that Sandra Lee can’t evict you for non-payment of rent?

He’s just helping his lawyer friends who will be making money representing landlords and renters in the coming months. He’s likely getting a kickback from all of this. He’s no different than the Clintons, who never did anything unless it benefited their pockets.
