Oath breakers acting like thugs deserve no breaks. When I see sheriffs deputies in Texas using Mraps pointing ar-15s at people to break up a peaceful protest, police in California arresting somebody for surfing on a beach that’s completely empty, or threatening a mother on her property because her child was seen playing with another child in her neighborhood, I lose all respect for law enforcement. They are more concerned about their jobs or pensions rather than the oath they took and the constitution.

top 3 concerns for 95 out of 100 cops:

-their own safety (perfectly reasonable)

-their pension

-other cops

your rights aren’t even on their radar

Your example is a poor one because it involves activity that is illegal by statute. Even the mutant judge in Texas who sent that hair salon owner to jail yesterday openly admitted that the governor’s shutdown order was probably illegal.

We have seen a mountain of evidence built up over the past 50 years that the police in this country are not our friends. They have shown time and again, at every level, in every sort of agency, in all kinds of situations and circumstances too numerous to mention, that they will follow the orders given to them by every tinpot Marxocrat dictator of whatever stripe, knowingly incarcerating or outright murdering any and all citizens they and their corrupt political masters deem as miscreants. There is never any consideration for anything other than the continued issuance of their paychecks by their employer government agencies. If the people of this country are too dense to see all this and refuse to keep their mouths shut when confonted by an LEO and don’t avoid LEOs at every opportunity, then they have nobody but themselves to blame when they get kicked in the ass by an out-of-control cop.

Bishop_Malachi In his post #6 said it better than I. This is uncharted territory. Many people in positions of authority are going to err on the side of caution. Also, I suspect that governors do have lawful emergency powers to quarantine. Are they going overboard here? In at least some cases, yes.

I know evil when I see it. But I see no monstrous evil here. Over-reactions, yes.

And as I side note, I trust - really trust - Donald Trump. If these orders were so terribly evil, he would be screaming bloody murder about it. But he’s not doing that.

...hundreds of thousands of “law enforcement officers.”

There was a time, not so along go, that they were considered to be 'Peace Officers'. Now when a cop shows up, it's practically a signal that things are bound to get worse.

Probably one of the worst things to happen is the militarization of police. All these cops now with their plate carriers and tactical pant (or shoot-me-first pants as I like to call them). Give people toys, and they will want to play with them.

Trump said “Liberate Michigan!” and other fascist-run States. What more must he say?

Trump serves with a Deep State/Globalist gun pointed at his head. His administration is hamstrung. After Trump - The Deluge.

I trust no one in government. That includes President Trump. Trump has issued guidelines, which doesn't bother me. He hasn't created unconstitutional laws. He's between and a rock and hard place politically with this, so he has to tread lightly in his speaking up.

We have a history of our civil rights slowing eroding since the Wilson administration. At no point have all those rights been given back. This will be no different. Government is establishing power over the people. People need to have power over the government to be free. That's not happening because there are a bunch of wusses in the country that are afraid of their own shadows and a stinking flu. They are allowing tyranny. That is evil.

When someone tells you to walk through a church parking lot taking down plate numbers, we expect you to say “No.”

The guys who might have, said no are long gone. Winnowed out by political correctness. PC invaded the ranks of police, military and workaday people decades ago and it’s intent to enforce obedience to command, which in the case of the public travels thru the ether, guarantees that the operator wI’ll do as expected.

Ask any postwar Soviet citizen about the voice from the ether.

As an example: To be a cop today you have to make believe things that patently have no truth about them are truth incarnate and cannot be denied. You have to accept lies, mouth lies, respect lies salute lies even if it cost you your life. The ONLY people who van survive in such an environment are the ones who tend obey the voice from the ether .

This lockdown seems to have a new obedience catch phrase or command every couple of weeks. “We’re all in this together, stay safe, flatten the curve, stay home, wear your mask. It is no coincidence that the person who told authority “No” was a hairstylist. You are far less likely to find such Badassness among the ranks of people who have willingly accepted marching to the commands of the voice from the ether.

To all those “just doing my job” cops out there. Stand down or there will come a day when you will be treated just like any other armed thug.

“They have gone from being “peace officers” to being “law enforcement officers”.”

Agreed

That, my friend is the key. Used to be they were there to “keep the peace” between folks. Calm the situation. Give folks a chance to rethink and step back from the edge.

Now it’s, shoot the dog first.

I believe law enforcement is building a template for the future based on their actions during this crisis.

I do NOT believe they’ll return to “normal” once the crisis has passed. They’ve seen what they can get away with. They’ve got increased power over the citizenry in their hands, and they’re not going to give it up willingly.

Constitution? What’s that? They’re wearing the Constitution on their belts, with plenty of extra clips just in case.

“Not a valid comparison. I am talking about lawful orders, as understood by a civilized society.”

How about when I drove down the highway yesterday at about 78 mph when the speed limit was 70. I went thru a speed trap and nothing happened. That cop didn’t follow “a lawful order”.
Personally I am going to call that judicious enforcement. He will not be suspended or fired for not giving me a ticket nor should he be.
Cops need to use good judgement and enforce egregious violations of said “lawful orders”.
