They have done tests spraying masks with the virus and other flu particles etc- - mask do have varying degrees of protection- most are not very effective- but all did stop some of the particles from going through-

researches also noted that adding nylon from stockings- (cut a ring of it to fit over mask) over masks greatly increases their effectiveness too-

not0-e I am NOT advocating for mandating use of masks- I am only posting about that chart because some folks who want, or need to wear them because of sick elderly in home, or because of compromised immune systems, might want to know if homemade masks do anything at all- there’s a lot of conflicting claims out there- but if you have a compromised immune system, or have loved ones who do, and you feel you want to try to help keep them safe, then some masks are better than others for doing so-
