Texas restaurant patron stuns with $1,300 tip on reopening day

A restaurant in Austin, Texas, was treated to a generous surprise after reopening its doors to customers on Friday.

The excitement was felt not only by Frog & Bull — which had been posting about the then-upcoming event throughout the week on its Facebook page, including videos showing the staff setting up the dining room and pictures of its newest wine additions — but by the patrons, who had turned out to support the business as soon as shelter-in-place orders expired April 30.

Love it! I plan to go out tomorrow and leave a huge tip (probably not that huge though!) at my favorite restaurant.

The Red state economies will take off. meanwhile, the Cuomo death grip on NY’s economy is suffocating the economy, no wonder he needs respirators.

Gov. A Cornuto (D-NY) should be told of protective benefits of a plastic bag.

I wouldn’t be surprised that California reopens its economy by the end of June 2020. Let the New York area people suffer.

Love these type of stories I was finally able to see the person who cuts my hair after she was forced to close down for 5 weeks.

She is a sole proprietor - a one person shop. She has been cutting my hair for 20 years. Trust me when I say there isn't nearly the amount of hair to cut as there used to be. Anyway, she charges $23 and I know the shutdown hit her hard. Since I was able to, I tipped her $200. She didn't want to take it, but I insisted. She literally cried.

The Almighty loves a silent giver.

I might say that our president must be included within those ranks.

we should start a thread....which should ideally become a sort of “competition” to see who can post the best story along these lines!

But ....THAT is a good one!

I have been in the $20 range for a while on take out orders....but I think next time, I’ll ante up to $200.

Yesterday my wife and I splurged at a local restaurant and picked up the order curbside. When I placed the order over the phone, I tipped 20% just as if I was in the dining room. They really appreciated that and when I got the order home, I discovered that they threw some extras in there as a thank you.

They are getting this down to a science in my area. You pull into the restaurant parking lot and call them to let you know there are there and what car you are driving. They come out and bring the order right to your car. I saw at least a half dozen other cars in the parking lot with me waiting to pickup an order. So hopefully the restaurants are able to survive with this method for a while longer.

When I go to see mine on Thursday, I’m tipping a bunch, too - in cash. I know Hubs will do the same - and I’ll insist he tip huge too for his stylist.

well I've been thinking seriously of tipping every worker on at the time at McDonald's $20 each...haven't done it yet...

think about it...these workers probably make less then those sitting home collecting unemployment and the extra money...
