Michael Jordan mostly kept himself out of controversy at the height of his fame with the Chicago Bulls during the 1990s but it was a comment about selling sneakers that drew the most ire.

Jordan’s comment, “Republicans buy sneakers too,” resurfaced Sunday night in an episode of ESPN’s “The Last Dance” documentary. Jordan admitted that the remark, which was made during the 1990 U.S. Senate race in North Carolina between Democrat challenger Harvey Gantt and incumbent Republican Jesse Helms was "said in jest.”

Yes, we do, but a lot of them are New Balance at only about $150.00 per pair, and that's pure heresy. Indeed, it's almost as bad a Jew eating a bacon wrapped Hebrew National hot dog.

It’s a shame that everything has become so politicized that one can’t even make simple and pretty obvious offhand comments.

Yeah, I don’t take that as offensive.

In the least.

Yeah. I buy sneakers. New Balance 990s, a bit more than $150 a pair, and MADE IN THE USA. To hell with Nike.

I’ve been using several pairs of 990s for over 10 years. My current pair is getting old. Might be time for a replacement.

I just got my new walking shoes. I thought I’d ordered 990v4, but they turned out to be the newer 990v5. So far, so good. Still Made in USA. My only “wish” is that they’d extend the leather over the big toe like the did a long time ago in some of their older versions. My big toe tends to point up when I walk and blow through the cloth on top too quickly. Other than that, NB are the only shoes that don’t kill my feet when I exercise.

Reebok “Classic” has been my go to shoe for decades. Best fit and best classic design/style.

Have the libs FINALLY run out of things to be offended and outraged by? They have to now dredge up 25 year old comments to rail about?

What’s going on here?

I buy lots of sneakers...

From garage sales. They have no value for me other than as feet coverings, or as something to resell to collectors for an obscene profit.

I wear mostly Keen sandals. I buy a few used pairs every year off of E-Bay. My kids think that is creepy and I am going to get some sort of fungus.

I've read recent Jordan articles...

I can very much relate to much of what I've read about him.

His trials, his tribulations, his life.

He is an interesting guy...

Did you know in college..he was a Mathematics Major?

I didn't either..........

Yep, the USA made 990s are a nice shoe and fit better than the foreign made models.
