Thousands of people in Newport Beach and hundreds in San Clemente took to the shore on Sunday afternoon, as lifeguards and police repeatedly sent beachgoers packing, pointing out they were in violation of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s order that closed all Orange County beaches.

Having that much lust for power made no sense to me, and it made the motivations in Milton's "Paradise Lost" seem silly. Obviously, there are a lot of politicians (almost all democrats and some republicans) who think in ways normal Americans cannot relate to. Newsom is wallowing in power, and loving it, even if his orders turn what could have been a beautiful state into hell on earth.
Getting a bit of sunshine is probably the healthiest thing that folks can do. Why doesn’t Mr. Braino aka Fauci prescribe it?? Simple...he doesn’t give a sh**. You’re just a number.

It wasn’t all that long ago that Orange County was one of the more conservative areas of California. I don’t know if that’s the case any longer but, if it is, is the governor selectively closing Orange County beaches or all the beaches in the state? Could this be some sort of retaliation for political differences? I don’t know; just asking.

I guess he’s more afraid of the governor than he is of the people who elected him.

is there any creature more loathsome in this world that a beach lifeguard throwing his weight around...? and if one were to try this with me, I would simply ask ‘if we are not allowed to swim (or even sit) here, then why are you here...?
I watched the beach cams off and on all weekend. Quite a few lifeguard types patrolling, too. There were lots of surfers out early, while the cops were on their morning doughnut/coffee break.
South Orange county is rather law abiding, but they have a rebellious streak when it comes to oppression. We are at the threshold. It remains to see how close we are.
They vote for socialism and they are surprised they got socialism.
