JEN ROGERS: Let's head to Seana Smith. She's got the breaking news on Microsoft's earnings. Seana.

SEANA SMITH: Hey there, Jen. So it looks like Microsoft beat on both the top and bottom lines here for their fiscal third quarter-- coming in revenue at $35.02 billion. The estimate on the Street was $33.69 billion. Earnings per share also topping expectations at $1.40 a share-- the estimate from the Street was $1.20. Some commentary here just in terms of the impact that coronavirus has had on Microsoft-- or lack thereof, I should say so far-- the company saying they have had a minimal net impact on total company revenue here for the quarter from coronavirus.

They also went on to say that cloud usage increased in some segments. They also mentioned that they did see a slowdown in transactional licensing in the final weeks of the quarter. Drilling down into some of Microsoft's closely watched segments, their intelligent cloud division reporting revenue of $12.28 billion. Their more personal computing division, revenue there at $11 billion. And Microsoft also saying that this division did benefit from an increase in demand during the quarter. Microsoft also reporting that their product revenue coming in at $15.87 billion. But again, headline numbers for Microsoft-- beating on both the top and bottom lines for revenue and earnings per share.
