Gov. Gavin Newsom will order all beaches and state parks closed starting Friday after people thronged the seashore during a sweltering weekend despite his social distancing order that aims to slow the spread of the coronavirus, according to a memo sent to police chiefs around the state.
Eric Nuñez, president of the California Police Chiefs Association, said it was sent to the group's members Wednesday evening so they have time to plan ahead of Newsom’s expected announcement Thursday.

While most state parks and many local beaches, trails and parks have been closed for weeks, Newsom's order is sure to ignite pushback from communities who argue that they can safely provide some relief to residents who are starved of fresh air.

This jerk should get out of his mansion and chauffeured limo and discover what a great state California is. Closing the parks is a REALLY dumb idea. Fifty miles north of Sacramento, and the Cascade Range a third of the state is all forestland.
If Gavin Newsome wants to make a law prohibiting Nancy Pelosi from going to the beach in a bikini, I’m afraid I’ll have to support Gavin Newsome on that one.

I walk in one of the state parks almost every day.
There is absolutely no legitimate reason to close the state parks.
People are just hiking/walking with their families and everyone is wearing a mask and social distancing.
The Sun and Heat reduce the danger of the virus.
Newsome is just being a jerk about this or is getting really bad advice.
For years, DiFi had a place at Stinson Beach in Marin County. Not sure if she still does, but guessing that if she does, and she and her peeps want to enjoy the beach this Memorial Day, they won’t be stopped.
