I cannot get my new driver’s license without my birth certificate. I had a certified copy that was not accepted because the lady said it was too old. TO DRIVE.

There are two classes of drivers' licenses: one requires additional proof such as birth certificate or passport which you can use to get on an airplane, and another version that does not require these documents. You can't use that one to get on an airplane, but you can use it to register to vote.
