One thing that this episode has exposed is how much of our economy (and life) is made up of frivolous things and activities, like entertainment, sports, eating out, vacations, etc.
Yes. Maybe people will sit back and re-assess what “quality of life” means to them.
Perhaps it’s all about watching NFL games on the enormous TV in my living room while I complain about the job I hate and munch on pricey appetizers from Whole Foods. Maybe that makes me happy.
Or perhaps it’s all about teaching my child how to make lasagna and discussing plans for a camping trip. Maybe that makes me happy.
Everybody wants to be happy. A lot of people pursue behavior patterns — in an effort to be happy — that make them miserable. Maybe people will see it when they slow down.
