Sean Hannity has been the king of Fox News for two and a half years, the highest-rated host on the highest-rated cable news channel. His dominance has withstood network management changes and the vicissitudes of a news cycle driven by President Trump, the anchors close political ally.
In April, however, Mr. Hannity slipped back.
For the first time since moving to the 9 p.m. time slot in October 2017, Hannity ranked second in Fox Newss prime-time lineup. Tucker Carlson Tonight ranked ahead, with an average nightly audience of 4.56 million viewers, outpacing the 4.39 million who tuned in for Mr. Hannity, Nielsen said on Tuesday.
It is difficult to pinpoint the reasons for a shift in ratings, which are closely inspected by TV executives and anchors (not to mention Mr. Trump). But this month, coronavirus lockdowns and the presidents freewheeling White House briefings profoundly altered viewer dynamics at Fox News.

Tucker has been doing excellent smack-em-in-the-chops monologues about this situation. Hannity has been the same old tick tock BOOM! and “maybe it will be safe to sit down at Denny’s again if we test 300 million people”.
No contest.
We all need to flood Trump’s inbox with that link. Outstanding!
I like Hannity very much, but he has one problem that makes me fast-forward: He talks too much and doesn’t listen to his guests. Hearing the same screed over and over gets tiresome, no matter how truthful it might be, and I want to know what the guests think. We already know what Hannity thinks.
Tucker always has a great show. That’s real journalism without fear or favor. I can’t stand to watch Hannity. He drives me nuts.
Dud you see the segment I posted? He said the US is turning into China.
Exactly.
I like Laura better than Hannity. she doesnt yell over people as much, he invites people on then gives a opening statement for each interview and only a few seconds of response which basically doesnt allow the guest to say what they are actually thinking only allows for them to agree with hannity
HOORAY Tucker! OUTSTANDING work! Thanks very much for posting, RandFan. BUMP!
Exactly correct! Hannity is a “one trick pony” where Tucker Carlson is NOT. Hannity has a very nasty habit of not allowing his guests to speak without constant interruption and that has gotten very old.
Hannity interrupts too much . He needs to chill.
I like Hannity. But I really get more out of Tuckers show. He almost lost me during the initial period of lockdown but has admitted he was wrong, which only made me respect him more.
Tucker presents as conveying a reasonable point of view. His presentations logically link together.
Hannity comes across as someone breathlessly trying to hit all his taking points. The presentation is disjointed and he rarely finishes a thought. But he does have great guests.
He talks too much and doesnt listen to his guests.

Bing! (/needlenose)
He does it on TV and the radio.
His guests are an excuse to sound like he is having a dialogue, but you can tell all he wants to do is monologue. It doesn’t matter if his guests are of complimentary viewpoints or not, he will often walk all over them before they really get a chance to finish their thoughts. Why even have them on?
Also, he is extremely repetitive. I only sometimes catch Hannity on the radio during afternoon drive time. Even less do I catch him on TV. I hear the same things over and over. Until the corona thing stopped it, I think I heard over 100 times the same drone-on lines about how it’s the best economy ever and unemployment is at an all time low for blacks, Hispanics, women-in-the-workplace... blah blah blah. If I heard that constantly with as infrequently as I tuned in, I can’t imagine how hard it would be to be a full consumer of his show.
Talk about yelling mark Levin yells so much cant listen for long
Yes it is very frustrating to tune into Hannity, either in TV or radio, wanting to hear what his guest has to say and never getting that opportunity.
If he wants to do Rush’s one man show he should dispense with the guests. Of course he’ll crash and burn.
Getting yelled at for an hour is painful, even if you agree with him.
I'm glad Hannity is in the living rooms of conservatives all across the country.
I'm just as glad I don't have to let him in mine.
I have, of late, come to quite like Tucker Carlson.
He’s polite, doesn’t interrupt his guests. His show is well-organized but moves swiftly, with a plan.
Indeed, Tucker is outplaying Hannity, who I also like but Hannity wants only HIS voice going across the airwaves.
Someone should teach him a lesson.
Meanwhile, hooray for Tucker.
I see the NYT is trying to stir up a game of let’s-you-and-him-fight, sow a little dissension in the ranks.
FNC feeling a little heat to deal with the problems raised by contractual issues...?
Levin and I have mutual friends. I hear lots of good things about him. One of my biggest problems with him though is that he’ll say things about people on his show that he won’t say to their face. Dr. Fauci for example. He’s trashed him on radio but would not ask him even a slightly pointed question when he had him on TV for half an hour.
