Got into a big shoving match with a FReeper Karen yesterday over whether Trump could do this.
Looks like I win.
Good, take that Democrats.
Workers calling in sick all over.
Good!
He wins, but it’s a political mistake.
There is this vid, I have no idea if it is valid.
The man himself does check out, I found a lot of references in searches, he really is what the vid says he is.
Shad Sullivan - Region V Director - R-CALF USA

Good. He hasnt exercised enough authority in this. I assume this is a DPA mandate.
The President has this kind of power? He shouldnt - whether he does or not.
The content of your link is generally correct. The USDA will mandate many market ready animals be destroyed if the packing plants are unable to process. Nothing very scandalous about it, simply what is required. You need to remember, there are plenty more animals in the pipeline.
I dont think its a mistake. Of course there will be special protections, etc, and people dont have to work there if they dont want to. But most of these workers are on the younger side, certainly under 60, and even if they get it will be just fine.
Maybe this can turn the tide on the (politically motivated) panic.
It’s to neutralize the Tyson bloke who tried to kneecap him with a paid ad.
Calling all Hunters.
Who’s behind the Chinese takeover of world’s biggest pork ...

JUDY WOODRUFF: One year ago this month, a Chinese company bought America’s largest pork producer, Smithfield Foods. The $4.7 billion deal is the biggest Chinese acquisition of a U.S. company to date.
I’m not concerned that the workers are at any particular risk. This just opens governmnet micromanagement based on fear-mongering by the press.
I dont see government micromanaging it at all. The implicit threat isnt that Mike Pence becomes the manager of operations at a Tysons meat plant. Its that the government takes over the Tysons plant and brings in people from Hormel or Perdue to run it.
And as for the workforce, sucks to be them I guess.
The order will also include guidance to minimize risk to workers who are especially vulnerable to the virus, the official said.
The White House issued guidelines they wanted the states to meet before opening too. None of the states are following them so why should the meat processing plants do any different?
