Best retort to the Bavarian police demands of “Show me your papers” would be, “We don’t need no stinkin’ papers. We live in the Peoples Republic of Germany and you, mein comrade, are part of that Republic”.
How do you spell “Stasi”? Oh, it’s Stasi! Imagine that. Guess I missed the change from Gestapo to Stasi.
The only thing “Bavarian” I would like is one big Bavarian Cream Donut. Other than that, I’ll skip most things German. Has something to do with my European family being executed en mass by them in Lemberg during WW2.
The irony is that Bayern was part of West Germany after the war, not East. Then again, once the past of Konrad Adenauer is looked into and what he did after the war, it would not be so ironic.
BTW, I remember the phrase “mein Kamerad” from the old war comic books, both US and UK; those were still popular when I was a kid.
