Jared Kushner: Coronavirus Exposed Our Reliance On Foreign Supplies (video)

In an exclusive interview with Fox News host Steve Hilton Sunday night, President Donald Trump’s Senior Advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner explained that the coronavirus pandemic exposed the dangerous reliance the U.S. supply chain has on other countries.

“I think the campaign platform that President Trump ran on in 2016 which was basically ‘you have to secure your borders and you have to control your own manufacturing as a national security issue.’ I think those have been totally vindicated positions from the virus and I doubt it will be easy for people to argue against them in the future,” Kushner said.

Kushner has been working to secure critical supplies for states in need during the pandemic, including New York where ventilators were short of projections. He’s also working to supply critical Personal Protective Equipment for nursing homes and other areas of need as the country looks to reopen.

The extremely short memories of Americans, not all of course, terrifies me.

a month after this thing is over I fear if something could be made for a dime cheaper in China, people will want to save that dime.

And once again not care where it’s made.

Not all of course. But too many

I’ve been trying to buy things second hand instead of from China. I hear the Japanese are bringing more of their manufacturing back from China. I’ll buy electronics from Japan long before China.

Jared, the Jewish Captain Obvious.
President Trump has been on this issue for DECADES. Problem is, no one gave a damn until recently.
If an American made whatever cost more than a Communist Chinese version of whatever, nearly ALL Americans happily and ignorantly bought the Communist Chinese product over the American Made product without ever giving a moment’s thought.
And, when this Martial Law ends, every one of them will go back to choosing the Cheap Communist made product over the more costly American made version of whatever.
Why? Because we lack, as a culture, any long-term vision. We as a culture are driven by immediate/short-term gratification. Our lack of long-term vision and strong need for immediate gratification may be our ultimate downfall.

And his love for cheap foreign labor to undermine the president and the American people.

Lol

I remember when fracking could never be financially profitable. I’m sure there are many of those statements I would remember if I tried hard enough. American business could find a way to make products cheap enough to compete and still make them here.

make it in the South where labor is cheaper and sell it at a mark-up to us a####es up north :-)

I would spend a few extra bucks to keep things in the country

I will bet that if you ask any college student today “When and what was 9/11” that you will not get any sort of meaningful answer 95% of the time. It would be very interesting to hear how many know that it was in 2001.

So would I.

I’d rather the guy down the block is employed than pulling
in some sort of public dollars.

He’ll contribute to the community, not suck from it.

President Trump should declare something like “Operation Economic Boon 2021” and set clear cut big but attainable goals like surpassing the pre-covid low unemployment numbers by the end of the year; bringing back all production of critical products to the USA, including all pharmaceuticals; elimination of all aid to countries who are not clearly our friends; and new policies that strongly support and promote buying American made products. This could go a long way in showing voters that only Donald Trump has the know how to get the country back up and running like it needs to.

Every time an American looked at an item for where it was made in it came from China. Now China’s reliance making everything was being threatened by a change in leadership in America which was a major consumer of those products. When Americans hailed their leaders decision to make many of them in their country US. Their politburo worried.

Worse yet opponents to the Chinese regime in power had its citizens protesting its policies , as in Hong Kong, since that change in American leadership wave the American flag and present his name when doing so. All of which presented those in power the need to destroy that leader Donald Trump.

Would a runaway plague created by a nation which could threaten populations of an enemy cause them to react by demanding extreme restriction of movement by its population to prevent its spread ? Thus wind up fragmenting its economy and create defeat for that leader’s upcoming election.

The way this whole thing developed starting with the Italian fashion industry areas controlled by the Chinese commies hit by a runaway CCWV (Chinese Communist Wuhan Virus) breakout occurred in Wuhan the politburo closed off Wuhan but did not warn the Italian Socialist government or the Pope with whom the Chinese government had good relations with.

But certainly violated when the socialists should have been informed and allowed to deny those Chinese workers who replaced Italians in those factories taken over by the Chinese travel to and from China particularly for their New Year while this was occurring. Which Trump did with the exception of only allowing American citizens returning..
Sure looks suspicious particularly when crews of US naval vessels somehow wind up being infected by it while visiting certain Asian ports before that showed up in Italy.
To stop the return of manufacturing of products back to the US that went to China. China backers here who’s family members are making millions from China through their political connections will be hit hard are also claiming that Trump’s alleged stock ownership in a quinine pills maker claim its a controlling interest in a product to be totally ineffective and when used requires a severe restriction of movement when near a possible carrier known as a shutdown because of its rapid transmission .

Speak for yourself. I have been trying to avoid crappy China junk for years. It has become increasingly hard to do. The main stores in our small town are Walmart and Dollar General. When I would occasionally post a comment about it, some people on this forum would jump on me—saying how great Chinese products were. SPIT.

So called business leaders helped fuel Hitler’s war machine and they have done this same thing with China. Every dollar we spend with China just helps them in their anti American efforts. We should never have let them into the World Trade Association—but then again, with all those zillions of people—what a market if we could just get to it—blinded by $$$$. Total insanity.

So your kids walk around dressed in Hudson Bay blankets? Maybe furs?

There are very few affordable clothes made in North America.

It was the darkest day of my and many others’ lives.

Only surpassed by my father’s passing at a young age.

I was 31 years old, working in Rockefeller plaza and ready to take over Manhattan.

Single, young, smart, strong and full of that bravado that you can only have at a younger age.

Nothing but great success and great times lay ahead.

And in an instant all of our lives here changed.

And none of us would be quite what we were before.

I worked in the world trade center. To world trade center for a reinsurance company Guy Carpenter.

I was young, maybe worked there from 18 to 22 during college. I would look up at the world trade center from not too far away and I was always taken aback by what I thought was is its beauty and Majesty.

On the way home to Staten island, the view from the ferry of the skyline was incredible.

I won’t even discuss the new building

For two years my bus took a shortcut past the ruins up to midtown. Just shards of the building sticking out of the ground.

It hurt seeing them every time.

I lost a few good firemen friends. Many people lost loved ones in my area.

The skyline was beautiful. One of the most beautiful things I ever saw in the evening and now it will never be beautiful again.

only one man had the vision and foresight to know what was best. Recreate them as they were. Exactly. He even made a miniature model of them because he knew it’s what the people wanted.

That man was Donald Trump.

but politics stepped in and we’ve got that dreadful looking thing downtown now.

I also remember the day. I gave blood. I saw the jet fighters in the air. there was no win in that situation. If they did shoot down a plane it would be Americans on it.

the only thing that kept me and a lot of others from completely losing it was Rudy Giuliani talkin calmly and strongly qnd promising that there would be a new day.

it’s all cleaned up now and that new thing is there and other buildings have been put up but it will never ever be the same.

And it should be in every history book in America.
