As the coronavirus death toll climbs in Michigan 540 as of Saturday (04 April 20) another grim number will never be known: The dead who go uncounted as casualties of the worst pandemic in a century.I dont know if our fatalities would be twice as many or 10 times as high, and we wont know until we have ready access to tests, said Dr. Russell Faust, medical director of Oakland Countys health division.
Because of a nationwide shortage of tests, there are few efforts to test the dead for coronavirus, especially for those who are elderly or have underlying conditions.
The latest: Michigan coronavirus map, locations, updated COVID-19 newsWhat Michigans coronavirus school closure means for you. What Michigans coronavirus stay-at-home order means for residents. What jobs are exempt from Michigan coronavirus lockdown? You may be surprised.
Oakland County is an exception, though, and has tested several bodies to avoid having to quarantine emergency workers who are called to help as people are dying. The issue is there are a number of people who die ... outside of hospitals.
EMS shows up and they do [cardiopulmonary resuscitation,] and the automatic assumption is that [the persons] age or comorbidity maybe emphysema pushed them over the edge, Faust said.Without knowing if theyd been exposed to COVID-19, emergency crews would have to be quarantined for 14 days something small towns cant afford, Faust said.
Faust declined to say how many bodies had been tested, but he said a handful of those cases returned positive results.Had we not performed those tests, who would not have known they were COVID cases, Faust said.
Tests remain at a premium in Michigan, whose hospitals and private labs have tested nearly 38,000 people for the virus as of Saturday. Thats roughly the same as Ohio and far fewer than Illinois,

If they count the same way Illinois does then the deaths afe OVER ounted
Sad to say, but those people who just died need to be tested, and confirmed they died of coronavirus.
This isn’t such a crazy idea. There were crazy numbers of serious respiratory illnesses this season which tested negative for influenza—before COVID-19 testing was available and accurate.
Start with Whitler.
Some people won’t be satisfied until we have mandatory universal vaccines, complete with injected chips.
And for that, we need to have a crisis first.
How many U.S. healthcare workers have died as a direct result of contracting Coronavirus?
How many have died from other causes (heart attack, stroke, accident, etc.)?
In other words, words, have the people most heavily exposed to the virus died at a higher rate than 'normal?'
I agree! Also, to say that this is the worst pandemic in 100 years belies a gross ignorance of history. The 1957 - 1958 H2N2 (influenza) pandemic cost 116,000 American lives (in a population half that of the US today - so today’s equivalent of 232,000 American lives) and over 1 million globally (in a world population of approximately 2.9 billion - today’s equivalent of 2.4 million deaths). By 1957-58 standards, coronavirus is quite mild.
How many grocery store clerks have died?
How many grocery store clerks have died?
I’m not opposed to anyone testing the dead, if that’s what they want.
Gotta get those numbers up
Dig up your dead
Good questions, now need answers.
I am reminded that during the temperance movement in the 1800s, intemperance was listed as a common cause of death. It fit the political agenda. But I will also remind that alcoholism was a real problem in those years and still is.

They mean to say that a death toll of 540 over 3 months is not enough to justify the draconian measures taken by the governor, so they need a bigger number. It is like the election results and they need to find those missing ballots all conveniently marked for the democrat. Are they going to dig up everyone who died since February> What about the ones who were cremated? Then they have to review every file to see if it can be re-categorized. They will find some, but unfortunately for them the death count cannot be inflated enough to cover their asses.
They need to be re-registered as Democrats, too. It’ll be a twofer. Good thinking!
Thats because the feds are paying these broke states a $35,000 bounty for each coronavirus victim. Theyll dig up the whole state for that payoff. Bet it was a Democrat must-have in the first rescue bill that the GOP caved on for $2.4 Trillion.
Will they get the $39K payout for each corpse they “discover” that had the ‘rona?
It’ll be like scavenging glass bottles and aluminum cans for the deposits!
“Leave no corpse interred!”
