The best we can hope for just now is Red states gradually reopening and recovering, while Blue states continue to suffer.

In a shocking speech to the National Governors Association, Secretary Mike Pompeo revealed that he is in possession of a list of American governors who have been listed as “friendly” by Chinese Communist infiltrators.
Pompeo said he had received an earlier invitation from a former governor to attend a networking event that promised great “deal-making” opportunities with the Chinese government.
This networking event was run by “The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship in Foreign Countries,” said Pompeo.
But what the US participants might not have known is that “the group is the public face of the Chinese Communist party’s official foreign influence agency, the United Front Work Department.” Pompeo knew of this connection from his former position at the CIA.He questioned the governors on how many of them knew that this group was a Communist-front group.
“What if you made a “new friend” at the China networking event?” he asked. “What if your ‘new friend’ offered to invest big money in your state, perhaps in your pension fund, or make a Chinese invest in an industry sensitive to our national security?”
And then Pompeo dropped a huge bomb on the crowd.
“These aren’t hypotheticals. Last year a Chinese government-backed think tank in Beijing produced a report that assessed all fifty of America’s governors on their attitudes toward China. They labeled each pol friendly, hardline, or ambiguous.”
Pompeo continued, “I’ll let you decide where you think you belong, someone in China already has. Many of you, indeed, in that report, are referenced by name.”

My degrees are in economics. I served in the Army for eight years — administration, nothing terribly interesting — then was a reporter and editor for various relatively small newspapers for 25 years before having to go for early retirement to take care of an ailing parent.
Until I joined Free Republic I was under the impression that all the crude bullies and overbearing know-it-alls were on the Left.
Now I know better.
Let me review my original point, as you evidently don’t have the reading comprehension you need to understand current events.
I will try to keep this to words of one syllable.
Things are bad. A lot of us get it.
Some of us don’t. Some will get it soon. Some may just need more time. Some won’t get it at all.
Some may get it once things get worse — we hope not too much more worse, but worse they may have to get.
RAT guvs are thugs. Some get it. Some need more time to see.
And some folks don’t care much — they just want their tribe to win. RAT tribe, good. Trump tribe, BAAAAAAAADDDD!
Switching back to normal prose here, what are you proposing?

You’re putting words into my mouth and picking a fight with me that I never sought, and certainly never anticipated.
All I said was that perhaps things may need to drag out a bit longer before the scales of public opinion tip decisively against these lockdowns. Right now, a lot of people see these things as abusive and unconstitutional, but a lot of people don’t.
I had a call this morning from a retired police detective who I count as one of my closest friends. He’s as conservative as you would imagine. But he said that his concern is that if all the restrictions come down at once, we may be opening ourselves up to a second-wave epidemic.
I don’t happen to agree, but this guy’s a wonderful friend who’s helped me a lot over the years. I think he has a responsible opinion — and so do I. We’ll have to see what happens in the coming weeks.

You evidently were quick to catch on to all the contradictory advice and general lack of good data on this “crisis.”
I held my fire on much posting to FR during the early weeks of the epidemic, for the simple reason that I’m an old-school reporter and I have to get my facts straight.
Initially, I suspected something wasn’t on the up-and-up when the initial round of panic buying exploded. It made me think of that famous 19th century book “Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds.”
I said to myself: “Anything that’s causing this much brouhaha with questionable evidence, is more than likely a lot of hot air.”
Going back to the video, I do believe it supports my contention that it may take a little while longer for discontent to reach critical mass. This is for the simple reason that, with so much bad data and contradictory advice out there, not everyone is going to catch on to everything. And what they do catch on to, they may not catch on to at the same pace.
Whether I’m being too patient about this — as you contend — doesn’t really matter. Events will unfold at a pace that I have not the least bit of control over.
Some people will join the ranks of us skeptics in the coming weeks. Others will continue to hide under their beds.
Aside from voicing my opinion as the occasion arises, there’s not much I can do about this. Tribalism is all-powerful and a lot of people won’t be swayed by any amount of facts and logic. Fortunately, there are some who will.
And, by the way, I think communications majors make lousy reporters. The best courses I took in college were accounting and statistics. At least I can read a corporate income statement and separate the lies from the damn lies.
