Too lazy to advertise and try to encourage people to buy eggs as well. More are at home baking and cooking.

BAHAHAHAHA

How silly 5,000 DOZEN a day, 7 days a week?

For 6 months?

BAHAHAHAHA

Here in Florida Publix is gouging on the price of chicken breast ... 5.99/lb and climbing

The consumer always gets plucked.

Bye the way, in the old days I lived in FL for a few months. Does Publix still sell delicious and wonderful chocolate almond ice cream? If so don't tell Pelosi. But I loved it.

“ The egg shelves at several local grocery stores are nearly empty.”

Same here. Thank government regulators. OTOH, why not have the grading equipment after 22 years in business? It isn’t all that expensive, and in this case would have saved the farm. I hate seeing food wasted.

Wow. Sad state of affairs.

Probably led to many grandparents and parents of the AOC types teaching them America has a bad system. We don’t.

That’s cheaper than breasts at the strip club.

I was just going to say I can’t buy eggs. So how did demand drop?

There are hundreds of thousands of diners, cafeterias, restaurants spanning the lower 48.

They're closed except for take-out.

I'm disappointed that President Trump hasn't been able to squeeze the FDA to relax food regulations so that farmers who were selling to the commercial & restaurant markets could quickly get their product into the retail supply chain.

There are many variations of such production contracts, but from what happened I would guess - the eggs and chickens legally belonged to Cargill, not to the farmer. He’ll probably be paid for both according to the contract, but may be stuck with the depreciation and loan costs of the barn, equipment, etc...

I’ve got five Golden Comets in a pen on the side porch. They’re 4 weeks old from when I bought them and are growing like weeds. The only birds I’ve ever owned prior were a pair of parakeets decades ago. These chicks are a trip.

The little squirrel dog here goes nuts every time they start chirping en-mass.

How much of our food chain has filthy Communist Chinese tentacles all over it? Inquiring minds want to know..

Excellent question. I have no answers. Always shocked to hear of the Smithfield ownership type thing. And again and again the innocuous and ubiquitous items that say Made in China (not just TVs and printers).

Lacking any face masks (now required!) I adapted an orange band type cold weather garment that is used to keep your forehead from freezing. Now turned sideways it covers my nose and mouth. "Made in China." Funny.

Sorry, those are ridiculous non-sequiturs, CM.

All it takes is pressure on FDA to get out to the God damned way. Trump is good at that. He just needs to call in the head of the FDA and tell him “I need you to declare that food that was approved for restaurants is ok to put into the consumer distribution channel. By tonight at 6 PM.”

Is that so hard to do? He’s cut hundreds of thousands of regulations and brags about that. It’s time to knock off the stupid FDA regs that are causing the destruction of human food and turning it into DOG FOOD!

We have miles-long lines of people in cars in many cities waiting to get food. Meanwhile we are slaughtering food.

The local grocery stores here stopped serving breakfast at the hot bar because of a drop off in morning traffic.

That concerns me, too. I’ve been stocking the larder at every shopping trip with that in mind.

And if they own a lot of food supply companies. All they have to do is shut them down and boom! You have supply chain disruption like you’ve never seen before.

One of the few nice things about COVID-19 is that petulant brat disappeared as quickly as she appeared. Let’s hope she is gone for good, sitting in her bedroom corner and pouting.

The egg shelves at several local grocery stores are nearly empty.

No yolk. They'll have to scramble to restock the shelves.

Apologies in advance to sophisticated people here who disdain dumb jokes.

This is insanity. Our world is upside down backwards. To kill chickens rather than take the time to convert the egg prep to retail. I can’t even.
