Thanks for the info. You might have added in your comment that Harris County is in the Houston Texas area, however. Otherwise, this thread becomes nothing but click-bait for the local news station there!

It is time for resistance to this nonsense. Our Founders would be shooting by now.

Really?

Lucky me

This whole thing is getting stupider by the day

The brain trust that invested their bankrupt intellect in the decision should have, maybe, done this six weeks ago.

The county judges in Texas are not “judges”.

They are the highest elected official in the county.

(Texas structured its government in the manner of ancient Israel; think the book of “judges” in Israel.)

That said, I don’t doubt the elected official is overstepping her legal authority.

If there were enough conservatives in the Houston area who felt that they had had enough of this liberal/progressive/marxist BS and decided to tar and feather this judge, I’d throw a party in their honor.

Is this judge a nitwit or what? I think she should be placed in stocks at the courthouse and pelted with rotten garbage for a month. Then, exiled. Hasn’t she ever read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Houston has lots of gangs that are encroaching on good neighborhoods now-gunshots fired multiple rounds so this is what they want to have cops do?

“Since when does a judge get to issue such rulings?”

It’s not a judicial ruling.

It is a policy enacted by an elected official who is chief executive of the county.

I thought Texans loved freedom... One reads things like this and realizes that there are a LOT of leftists in Texas.

From my post on April 6:

In Texas, "judge" is also a title given to a county executive officer.

As an example, in Houston we had Republican County Judge Ed Emmett, who was formerly a member of the Texas House of Representatives for 8 years. Twenty years later, he reentered state politics when he was appointed by Harris County to fill the vacant County Judge position. He subsequently ran for, and won the next three elections for County Judge.

As County Judge, Emmett was also the Director of the Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. In that capacity, he oversaw Houston's response to Hurricane Harvey in 2017, to generally high praise.

Come 2018, Emmett was thanked for his Harvey efforts by being ousted by newcomer Lina Hidalgo, who at the time was a 27-year-old Democrat who was born in Bogota Colombia, went to high school in Katy, Texas, and didn't become a citizen until after graduating college five years before running for County Judge.

All I can say is that her appearance at press conferences during recent Houston floods, fires, chemical explosions, and pandemics has not left me with a strong feeling of confidence. The local media is doing their best to portray her in the best light possible.
