“Don’t be surprised if the Dems send down a bunch of infected people to cough and sneeze all over everyone...”

They already did. Since March there’s New Yorkers everywhere down here.

Don’t be surprised if the Dems send down a bunch of infected people to cough and sneeze all over everyone from the Panhandle down to Dade. I believe they might.

That would be "again" if they try. I suspect Trump's meeting with Cuomo today predicated all promises of federal assistance with, "keep your Yankees from infecting the rest of the nation."

I like DeSantis, and he’s basically right about this.

” I’m starting to like him less. “

i’m starting to like him more and more ... he’s one smart cookie; i saw him on FNC saying he studied the models and modeling in general and really dug into them and came to the conclusion that the models were wrong and refused to take kneejerk actions based on faulty models ... as far as i can tell, DeSantis is one of the smartest (maybe even the smartest) of all of the governors ...

Exactly. They cannot afford to let this crisis go to waste. They can taste it now.

Perhaps the Gov. of Michigan would be more to your taste.

DeSantis has done a great job.

I hope he green lights EVERYONE going back to work no later than this coming Monday.

“Screw him. The unemployment system is a disaster worst in the nation, and he does not care.”

What a load of crap you just posted. The system wasn’t designed to take the sheer amount of filings, and the head of it (forgot his name) lied about it. Said it was almost fixed, any second now...just flat out lied.

Desantis took charge, fired the guy, put someone great in there, ordered and is installing 100(!) new servers, 1000(!) people answering the unemployment hotline, said “hire another 1000(!) for a total of TWO THOUSAND people taking applications over the phone...etc.

It was a bad system, crashed and burned, guy lied about it...what exactly would you have done differently?

Desantis was a great rep, bear I’ve ever had, and is a fantastic governor. Stood strong when the entire USA msm trashed him daily over not shutting down everything, when spring breakers were on the beach partying. Turns out, he was right. Oak spine. Truly. Oh, and Trump LOVES him!!! They chat a lot. He stood up to the bs Russia Russia coup.

Great guy.

I get ya! He is getting praise here because he didn’t go “draconian”.

You misjudged FR because there are many here who will tolerate anything in the name of preserving their safety. Draconian for the Chicken Freepers would be cutting off their government check (and yes that means SS). Anything short of that is tolerable.

Ron DeSantis is the best large-state governor in the nation — no disrespect to Greg Abbott.

Much like Trump, he had to walk a political/administrative tightrope, balancing safety and Floridians’ basic rights to work and function normally.

I’ve gotten through this mess in good shape, mainly because I’ve been through about five hurricanes in my 62 years, and I know enough to prepare by stockpiling non-perishable food and other essentials like toilet paper.

As I wrote to my cousins Up North: “Hurricane season just came early this year.” The emergency is dragging out longer than Hurricane Irma a couple years back, which is bad. But there’s no property damage, which is great!

But a lot of the same safety principles apply.

Folks who live down here and don’t have hurricane supplies are basically sheeple. And that includes most of the face-mask wearers I see at Publix each week. Fortunately, all I need is fresh vegetables, which have never been in short supply.

The biggest hardship I’ve faced here in Southwest Florida was not being able to worship on Easter. That’s local overreach but I don’t think it’s going to last much longer.

How were the hospital and grocery store workers going to get to work without the subway. Few own cars in NY. I just hope they were all wearing face cover, and if not, why not!

Sunlight increases Vitamin D in the body which may be somewhat protective. It will be interesting to see what death statistics are in FL a month from now.

Many Yankees, especially New Yorkers, have winter homes in Florida. But the old geezers are neither so clever nor so devious as to deliberately spread infection for political purposes. Their children and grandchildren, however, are a different matter.

People sneeze into their hands and then grab a strap or a pole. Hopefully, they’ve taken to using the inside of their elbows now, or wearing masks.

“I read sunlight kills the virus in 4 minutes.”

It isn’t only exposure to sunlight that kills the virus - it is exposure to the virus itself.

Herd immunity is by far our best weapon against any virus, and social distancing is preventing us from achieving the necessary exposure.

Anyone who thinks “herd immunity” is some wacky idea has another thing coming.

Since I have personal knowledge of the system, your comment is listening to the PR, not the facts. Your answer is a load.....

Facts are the system is the worst in the nation, pays the least in the nation, and there is no checks and balances. If the system is so good whay has it only paid 4% of the first 800,000 claims. It is a bad computer system, but adding servers and shutting the system for 13 hours day of more fixed nothing.

Let me say this another way. They found a way to let 96% of he population rot, while you bought the PR. Thanks for the help.
