Rally held at State Capitol calls on Gov. Lamont to reopen state
FOX 61 (Connecticut) ^

Protesters took their cars around the streets of the Capital and the Governor’s Mansion. Those who attended the Connecticut Liberty Rally feel their rights are being infringed upon and call the pandemic shutdown unconstitutional. This rally, like others seen around the nation, called for Governor Ned Lamont to reopen the state immediately.

"They totally shut down the country," said Rich Mills. "They destroyed the economy. It’s just ridiculous." The shouts and honks from passing protesters were clear, "open the state".

...

The Libertarian Party of Connecticut says the Governor’s actions are an overreach of authority and hurting small businesses. They feel common sense doesn’t need to be mandated. "They keep moving the goalposts. We keep giving, they keep taking," said Reale. "The bottom line is this a happy medium should be common sense."

Or as I called it “The Great Triggering of Hartford.” I saw a few counter-protesters, one was a group of 4-5 standing about 2 feet apart with a megaphone basically saying we were spitting in the faces of the nurses. The other was a crazy Cat lad, based on the “cat family” stickers on the back of her mini van who was screaming “protest until you F*&^ing die.”

My sister was interviewed at that rally by Channel 3 (WFSB, CBS affiliate). She is not normally an activist, so people must be riled up.

Alaska’s governor will unveil Alaska’s plan to reopen tomorrow. It should start happening real soon.

The Libertarian Party of Connecticut needs to find a better way of getting word out.
Active Freeper, Republican, and I show up for all 2nd Amendment activities (so I'm on more than a few contact lists) - this is the first I've heard of a Hartford rally.

THANK YOU for the after-action report! Wish we could've been there, but -- as I said before -- we didn't know about this rally until just a few hours before. By then, it was too late to change our plans and head to Hartford.

Can you estimate how many protesters were there yesterday? I realize that may be hard to guess, as I assume many people were staying in their cars?

Did the protesters go from the Capitol then onto the Governor's mansion?

LOL! What is a "Karen"? I see that term all over FR... I haven't been able to figure out specifically what that means. Thanks.

SO predictable, especially at protests in The People's Republik of Connecticut. The crazy cat lady was probably one of those leftists who regularly protests in West Hartford center. Crazy cat ladies / elderly hippies are out there all the time, protesting anything and everything Republican/Conservative. They're sickening.

"We didn’t do it for two world wars. We didn’t do it for 9/11. We didn’t do it for the Spanish flu. At a certain point, life is dangerous. We all obviously don’t get out of this alive, but at the same time life has to go on," said Dan Reale, Chair of the Libertarian Party.

"They keep moving the goalposts. We keep giving, they keep taking," said Reale. "The bottom line is this a happy medium should be common sense."

Great comments by Dan Reale!

I *totally* agree. I heard of this rally yesterday at the tail-end of Pastor Will Marrotti's radio show on WTIC 1080 (9am - noon). And I have to say the person describing the details of the rally (Dan Reale?) wasn't very articulate in giving out info.

Marrotti finally had to paraphrase what the Libertarian Party guy was trying to say to make the info understandable. The guy kept referring to some Facebook page (CT Liberty something or other) for more details. Well... I (and many people I know) are NOT on Facebook.

If we had had more notice, my husband and I definitely would've been there yesterday, and we would've brought friends. I hope there are more protest rallies in CT!

Effin' Lamont MUST re-open this state ASAP. GA and other states are starting to re-open this week. Lamont is STILL doubled-down on May 20th! What the hell??

Karen is usually defined as a middle-age middle-class white female who normally has kids it is a helicopter parent, also known for the table demand a manager to complain about any minor little mistake That could be easily corrected by the employee in a matter of seconds, they will also make sure their view of that is known on a online review that the server at the restaurant forgot the side of Ketchup. Besides that their entire life revolves around Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.

The initial lineup of cars wrapped around Bushnell Park, I went home and Google mapped it in that lineup was probably Somewhere between a half mile to 3/4 of a mile, It looks like some people joined in midway as well. After about an hour of circling the capital, it did move to the governors mansion later on.

I am on the warpath today after hearing the latest news in our crappy state: Now Lamont, Dr. Coe and the rest of his idiot team are saying they will present some ideas to Lamont on May 20th... NOT start to re-open the state on May 20th, as they originally announced! The goalposts keep moving.

These CT tyrants now say they will *maybe* start to re-open CT sometime in JUNE, but that the state won't be fully open until -- are you ready for this? -- possibly through the end of the year!! Are you freakin' kidding me?? I've had enough of this crap.

Do any of you know when the next rally will be at the State Capitol? I thought I heard something about Monday at the tail-end of Will Marrotti's WTIC radio show this morning. As usual, there is scant information. I have no idea where to look.

CT had some great leaders back in the Tea Party days... now these leaders seem to be gone. They probably got smart and moved the hell out of CT.

I have no idea where to look for info on any kind of activism in CT anymore. I'm not on Facebook, so I guess I'm in the dark. Thanks in advance, and hope to see you at a CT rally soon!
