If it truly ever got to that point, all that food and food sources would be near meaningless past a few weeks unless you had a sustainable source of lead/powder and the ability to reload. That, and more than just yourself and a significant other along side.

The number of hungry people coupled with the number of weapons out there would be staggering.

Gates' "home" on Lake Washington outside of Seattle is the size of an office park.

His wife Melinda makes a statement like she has some boxes of emergency food next to the cardboard boxes and the ironing board by the washer/dryer. His "basement" is probably the size of a stadium parking garage.

The problem is on the packaging side. Production was 60% commercial and 40% personal use. The 60% dropped substantially and the 40% that was running close to capacity is now maxed. It’s not really feasible to change the bottling lines short term. One would have to get bottle manufacturing geared up, blow molding plants to more than double output, new filling lines, and much more subtle supply chain issues to overcome. All during a time when people are locked at home.

I hate to have to tell you, Melinda, but in case of a pandemic or other disaster severe enough to cause civil unrest, those drug-addicted homeless people are going to make a bee line for that basement.

NOPE JUST SMART, HOPE YOU ROTATE STOCK OR IT SPOILS. 3 MONTHS SUPPLY ON HAND. ONLY THING I CAN’T CONTROL ARE DAILY PRESCRIPTION MEDS. AT NEARLY 72/80 WE BOTH TAKE MEDS. I’M HIGH RISK.

I’m sure that will no less than 1000 pounds of wagu steak among their “essentials” too. Hopefully they have lots of the Vaccines that want to pump into the world for themselves as well.

When Bammy got elected, I went hardcore with prepping. I have ten 5-gallon food grade buckets filled with dried beans, dried soup, flour, sugar, rice, couscous, soup base, jerky, powdered eggs and milk, etc. I put the items into Mylar bags with nitrogen packs, heat sealed them and snapped on the gamma lids. Should be good for 25 years.

I also splurged on cases of canned bacon, beef, shelf stable butter and cheese and canned brown bread. I also bought 3 months worth of dehydrated food supplemented with wheat gluten . My long-term pantry is busting at the seams with foods we eat all the time.

If the power goes out we have a rocket stove, thermal cooker and solar oven. The water barrel is awesome for providing water to flush toilets and to water the garden. Also bought a water filtration system.

Rule one of prepping.
Do not tell the world you have food in your basement.
If the food supply chain runs dry, the Antifa folks will rush your stash of food

Gee, maybe SOMEONE will come up with an idea of delivering it door to door....if they can’t drive maybe they could use a horse and wagon.”””

2 Local dairies sent 600 +++ producing dairy cows to slaughter at livestock auction 12 days ago. BECAUSE the milk processing plant didn’t have enough CONTAINERS to hold the processed milk.

Somewhere, the containers supply broke down, and no one is talking about THAT.

I am talking about FAMILY farms-—one of them is 3 generations.

Ackman spend 40 minutes on the financial news talking his book. He was spelling out doomsday scenario for stocks as the market was dropping down out. He was short.

Then not 2 days later he was talking his book again. He covered his shorts and went long, talking about how the economy would boomerang.

This guy is unscrupulous. I have zero interest in Herbalife. Never had an Herbalife product in my life. But he went short a couple years ago, then went on a year long tirade how it was a ponzi scheme, the stock would go to zero, hired disgruntled distributors to talk smack about them, filed complaints about them to the FTC etc and he literally said he would never cover his short because he said it would go to zero and be out of business. His campaign cut the stock in half, then he covered his short position. He is a one of a kind breed of human.

Thanks for straightening that out.

The situation is so perverse, that after my initial post, I tried to reason out the cause. Many millions of eggs and swimming pools of milk have been dumped over the years, at the command of the respective cartel Marketing Boards. I thought that had to be the reason; but, it still didn’t seem right. Now, I know.

Your explanation supports the point I was trying to make, much better than mine. It’s a great example of how modern supply chains can break down — they’re only as strong as their weakest link. In this case, it was a bottle-neck at the bottling plant. Perfect!
