More than 100 people protested Wednesday in downtown Sonora against health orders that are keeping small businesses closed in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that has so far sickened three people in Tuolumne County.
Some held signs stating “Honk if You’re Healthy” and “More Data Less Fear” and “Man Cannot Live on Walmart Alone” while they walked up and down Washington Street. As many as 75 people gathered in Courthouse Square between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., raising concerns from other Sonora and Tuolumne County residents who opposed the protest, saying it endangered the entire community to congregate in groups without keeping six feet of distance between individuals.

Hey, fearbros, if you're so terrified of COVID, put on your mask and gloves, wash your hands, and don't touch your face so you don't catch it, but let everyone else live their lives and take their chances as they see fit! For my part, I have ZERO fear of this virus. Whether you think that makes me an idiot or not, doesn't give you or anyone else the right to shut me in my home, deny me my rights, or force me to stay 6 feet away from people, or wear a mask, or whatever else.
