One part of the story, which hasn’t been explained much....the boss of this ‘team’ has quietly sat in a German jail for most of the past year. You would think that the ‘team’ would have packed up and disappeared...yet they stayed around.
I'm not sure what bothers me more... the entire concept of privacy for those arrested, or the state refusing to identify fully whom they arrested.
Probably the refusing to identify - that's very troubling. But in the end I'll have to go with both - transparency in whom is incarcerated should be the hallmark of any democracy. You start hiding names, you'll feel much more comfortable hiding people.
